Final gam

The next and final game will be on Wednesday. Everton v Western Sydney Wanderers. Team that comes top on points wins the cup. Crazy set up.

 

We saw everything good and bad about Celtic at this Sydney Cup. Pretty much sums up where we're at just now.

Totally bossed Sydney and even more so Everton yet failed continuously to put the ball into the back of the net. The only goal we've scored in both games being a deflection off Kyogo's chest. Everything we've been saying about our UCL performances came back to haunt us once again.

Yes it's a friendly competition, but don't be fooled into thinking that Ange won't be bothered. He wanted to win this given the media fanfare over our arrival and his return to Australia. Truth is it's been a frustrating trip for him in terms of our results, but it has to be noted that he still remains relatively early in his project here.

Personally think Celtic will be back in Australia within the next 12 to 18 months in a similar competition. By then hopefully we're a lot sharper in the final third.

What someone said above about the final ball not being measured enough is true to an extent. That's the main area of our game we need to work on.

Some promising stuff again this morning, but truth be told we're still too nice.

Giakoumakis has proved yet again that he is a liability for Celtic when taking penalty kicks. No more for him!

Hatate, Taylor, Jota, Abada, Forrest, Ralston much better options. Can not afford to miss open goals - it borders on obscene.

 

GG scored a bunch of pens the year he won the Eredivisie golden boot - and . No idea what's happened since he joined us but it's frustrating to say the least.

You can expect some players to not be in the Celtic squad next time the team comes to Oz - hopefully Melbourne next time.

 

Giakoumakis is making better use of space and losing his maker but he can't score if he is not provided with the ball with measured passes. He does not create goals, he scores goals from final passes from others. That is his game at Celtic.

If you watch his goals on youtube when he was playing with VVV Venlo, his goals had variety and he was more mobile on the ball but also scored similar goals as with Celtic.

 

Imagine it's a friendly. Imagine only being asked to play because a team dropped out.

You're going to be in the Championship next year.

Scotland and England are the same. You're not going to win it either.
