and how exactly do you know that he wont be coming here permanently? may i see into your crystal ball? For one, Lennon says he hopes to talk to him about coming and he wants him here.

Oh well instead of aiming to try and bring in players such as Keane, campbell etc is what Celtic as a club aim to do, have the best players at the club as possible.Keane is a possibility, but i suppose you would be happier with someone like Rickie Lambert etc?

If you take everything into consideration, such as transfer fee and wages - then getting Robbie Keane permanently is unrealistic for us, finance wise.

Again mate, we're looking to loan Campbell (despite his advancing years) - I was talking about acquiring a top player permanently. We can't compete with the lower half of the Premier League when money is concerned and money is normally top priority for players, regardless of what they say.

Of course, I would prefer Keane. I still feel it's unrealistic for us finance wise.

Robbie Keane is the absolute top end of what we can hope for. There's no point comparing him (or his work rate) to any of our players. Certainly shouldn't be a beating stick for Samaras.

The examples of Neville and McNamara fall flat on their face as well. Neville has based a career on work-rate, intelligence, delivery, basically all the attributes of a good right back. McNamara is naturally one of the most flexible players we've ever had...

I mean consistently in this thread we get weird and wonderful ways to criticise Samaras and the more you question them the more bizarre answers you get back.

Thankfully there are a lot of people who aren't Samaras' biggest fan who are realistic about his faults and don't just come up with the first thing that comes to their head.

Furthermore what's been said time and time again is how the level of abuse he gets is vastly disproportionate to his ability and importance to the team.

There are loads of areas of the team that need rectified yet people are *-bent on getting rid of Samaras, who if not first choice will surely be the best squad player in the SPL and would be abolsutely vital in a 4 pronged season campaign.

Only the board will be able to decide how much funds are available(plus any funds from sales), so saying this transfer is unrealistic is just speculation on your part.

Sol Campbell's contract is up at Arsenal and if he is to come to Celtic, it would be on a permanent transfer.

We have to aim big, and us as supporters should always expect players of this quality, otherwise we would be as well settling for second-best

We would have to * almost every penny of our transfer budget to acquire Keane on a permanent basis. Yes, it's speculation but going on previous budgets (that's all we have to go on).

Personally I would rather strengthen multiple areas of the team, rather than spend the majority or all of the budget on a player (he's class, no doubt) who is going to be over the hill with no resale value value sooner than you think.

I would love a player of his standard at Celtic Park just as much as anyone but not at the expense of strengthening areas which are in desperate need.

Indeed, there are a few areas of the pitch that need strengthened and would preferrably want those dealt with first. But, if there is a chance that we could get him then we would have to take it with both hands(im positive the board could shuffle their finances to fund a deal).
