Do many people take Green saltires ? I don't think many do. You may be right but I genuinely don't think people think I am not taking a saltire to the game because it is blue. They may think I am not taking it as I will get into a debate about Ireland and Scotland but that has nothing to do with it being blue.

And that's exactly what it is :50:

I don't think there's any other way of looking at celtic than being a Scottish club with Irish roots, despite what agenda some people might have for the club.

This, Sean, has always puzzled me.

I can honestly say I've never seen the Saltire flown anywhere within Celtic Park's support.

Honestly, why is that? I'm not expecting you to speak for everyone, but it does seem strange ... unusual, even ... given Celtic does play in Scotland.

The club equally belongs to both Irish and Scottish Celtic supporters.

A huge amount of fans come from outside Scotland.

Who are you to tell them the club doesn't belong to them.

    Open to all no?

Why should anyone have a problem is a fan decided to take a saltire....or indeed a lion rampant to the game? There should be no issue there.

We do fly the saltire from time to time, it's just that most people feel more comfortable flying the tricolour.

Apparently it's not because they feel Irish though...

I've never seen that on TV at Celtic Park, either.

    Is it there?

Is it unspoken and "illegal", of sorts? I wonder.

    Is there an issue though?

I seen a saltire in the GB section a few weeks ago.

I assume that wouldn't apply to the many Celtic supporters that travel up from England every fortnight. Does Celtic still belong to them? Can they claim Celtic is an English club in their own right?

I think a line in the sand has to be drawn. Celtic Football Club should be welcome to all nationalities, genders, races, ethnicities, religious groups, sexualities et al. It belongs to all, regardless. But we can't be defined as a multi-national club. We are a Scottish club, represent Scotland in UEFA and have played in Scottish league football for 123 years. But that doesn't diminish our Irish heritage. One iota.

Ah you're right. The Lisbon lines had a tricolour. They were Irish all along!

You assume wrong. I include fans all fans from outside Scotland.

Im aware of CSC's from England and have traveled on some. The people i have met mirror my views on Celtic and wouldn't wish to claim Celtic is an English club.

As far as I know it isn't..... Can't say I have seen it either but I don't think the reason it isn't flown is to do with national identity.

I'm maybe being too simplistic.....I just don't see someone Scottish flying a Scottish flag would be an issue, I think it would probably be embraced.

Not got much else to add to this..... I'd just be repeating myself.

We should be embracing both our Irish and Scottish roots

If two Irish people had a child in Scotland it would be Irish. It doesn't matter that the Child is born in Scotland. Celtic was created by Irish for Irish in Scotland, and thousands of Irish and People of Irish heritage support them today. Apart from the fact the club is based in Glasgow, there isn't really anything that Scottish about the club. Unless I'm missing something. So it's technically a Scottish club but with an Irish heart. If someone can tell me how Scottishness ever manifests itself within Celtic I'm all ears but I rarely see any Scotland flags, hear Scottish songs etc. The identity is clearly Irish. Anti-Irish bigots might find that hard to hear but it's the truth.
