Why didn`t Celtic Fc board come out with a statement condemning the actions of Eddie Smith for making the original complaint ti UEFA? this action by Smith is a first,as in a Glesga polis making a complaint direct to UEFA about so called "illicit singing".

Still seems to me that the Celtic board have been compliant with the Scottish establishment and to me that is a very sad state of affairs ,i think the GB are in the boards gun sights.

Celtic Symphony is the best song we have. Change it to up the Celts and lets get it belted out loud and proud.

It's * spine tingling and to be honest, when it peters out at that part it ruins it anyway.

Let's alter it and get it sung from start to finish on the 28th.

Anyone see when the Green Brigade were singing Celtic Symphony a few weeks ago, it got to graffiti on the wall, and they sang "ooh ah shhhhhhhhhhhh" and went silent then unfurled the banners from Father Ted? :56:

None of the songs we sing at Celtic park have anything to do with hatred or ill-will towards any group of people. Religious, political, or otherwise. Even the republican ballads are in protest of the British occupation of Ireland, not against the British. We definitely should have appealed. Our fans have done nothing wrong and don't deserve this.

It really saddens me, and angers me, to read some of the comments on here relating to Celtic F.C. and its C.E.O. Peter Lawwell. What some people don't realise, is that, it isn't anyone associated with our Club who make these laws. I have followed Celtic for the best part of 50 years now, and yes I admit to singing these song over the years, however like a lot of things in life, things change, and whether we like it or not, the ruling authorities have decided, that it is now against the law to sing these songs, or chant these slogans. Both my parents were Irish, and their families, have played an active involvement in trying to secure, a United and free Ireland, so perhaps like a lot of other Celtic supporters, I have a definitive pride in our clubs links to the Irish cause.
If some punters on here, want to vent their anger, then aim it in the right direction, not at Peter Lawwell, or Celtic F.C., and I'd suggest you start at home by campaigning against this SNP farce of a Scottish Government. They say, that they are the champions of ridding Scotland of its bigotry, and religious sectarianism, well lets initiate it by putting an immediate stop, to allowing the most vile display of religious bigotry, sectarianism, and hatred, march through the streets, and villages of Scotland, year after year, in the so-called celebration of the battle of the river Boyne. If they seriously want to eradicate this issue, then lets do it at the biggest source of the problem. Some of you may have M.Ps., M.S.Ps, or even local Councillors, who represent the SNP, well here's your chance to go meet them at their surgeries, and tell them face to face that the Orange Walk, intimidates you, and your family, and you want to excercise your human right, to personal safety, by calling for an immediate end to sectarian marches. If you are fortunate enough, not to have a SNP representative in your area, always remember as a Scottish citizen, you have a right to convey your feelings, in writing to Alex Salmond, First Minister for Scotland, and ask him to reply to you. Certainly be interesting to watch them squirm on this one.

Going back to abuse some people have aimed at P.L., please think before you say anymore. I'm not blowing my own trumpet here, but I happen to know P. L. personally, I know the type of guy he is, ...... his thinking is the same as ours, as in being a Celtic diehard, even before he became involved with Celtic in a professional capacity, this same guy that your ashamedly castigating, stood in the old Jungle at Parkhead, year after year. supporting the team he loves. I assure you P.L. hurts as much as we do, when Celtic get beat, if you think otherwise, you are way off the mark. I am not flying a flag for anyone here, but let's hold on to whats good for the Club, and what's good is, P.L. as our C.E.O.
I dont agree with any of the proposed new legislation, but it's going to become law, whether we like it or not, yes we can protest, ....... they can arrest us, but how many stand firm when the "* squads" move in ? I have been in that position, and seen it all. Forget our differences, lets get together, let's rally behind, another good Tim, who has also been slated on this site, Neil Lennon, get behind Lenny, and our team, to ensure we lift the treble in Scotland :party22:

Pick and choose our battles my friend, this is one we don't need to waste our time on.

Drop UTR from Celtic Symphony, keep on with the ballads and if it crops up again then we take it from there.

I'm actually hopeful the club are seeing it the same way...

    Let the people sing,
Totally agree with this and i feel if UTR is dropped we won't ever be in this situation again. I am one who sang it, but it wouldn't bother me in the slightest to stop singing this line as i have done since this investigation began. Infact, i would quite like to see 'up the celts' be really, properly begun to be sang. The past few games has been great at certain points in the song as CS is actually one that the rest of CP like to join in with - especially with the 'here we go again' so imagine if they continued through the bit where people go quiet but with roaring 'up the celts'? 52,000 of us on the 28th - would be quite intimidating in my opinion, in a good way of course.:50:

This is very true. The debate over singing will continue between celtic supporters for a long time to come, but it clearly splits opinion, and it means everyone does not join in. The more songs that people all feel they can take part in the better - leads to a better atmosphere all round

Because they dont want us to sing them as it may harm future sponsor deals etc. and gives ignorant people a bad impression of the club.
