Im fine with that as long as St. Pauli, Barca, PAOK FC, Bilbao etc. are also getting fined for political chanting?

I'm not wanting to get into this debate solely because I have no idea what we are up against.

If it just "ooh ahh up the ra" then I'm not going to waste my time debating for 20 pages when I couldn't give a * wether that is dropped or not.

So I'll leave my say until such times as we get some clarity on the issue.

    Sing away folks :icon_mrgreen:

    edit.

I'm taking that as, "change the lyrics to Up the Celts and the rest are fine."

    well said lad IMO

Until these idiots in UEFA and that shower in the boardroom stop hidding behind inept statements and pittyful pointless fines, we are none the wiser.

"Not fit for a sports event" well that could be debatable, a song ingrained in the history of the club to which the original video was allowed by Celtic to be filmed both inside and outside Celtic Park, also the song is called Celtic Symphony, the name of the club is in the song title.

I've not been on in a couple of days but it would seem so, might have saved 100 odd pages of arguments :56:

well at least celtic have specified that it is indeed "ooh ah up the ra" that caused the charge; well, that has indeed been stopped since the Rennes game so that should be the end of this whole sorry saga, right?

    Somehow I'm doubtful....

Well there is is, the answer we've all been looking for.

I don't think we can have many arguments here. Losing this chant from the repetoire hardly diminishes the club, it's fans, it's history or the fans' history. This isn't one we can claim "we've been singing for generations" seeing as how it is from a song that wasn't, as far as I'm aware, written until the 1980s when the club was already 100 years old.
I've always felt the lyrics to the verse to be far more significant anyway, seeing as how they relate directly to the fans and the act of supporting the club and making great personal sacrifice in doing so.

I'm sure the vast majority are. Even if it is the original Wolfetone lyrics, it should be dropped, and it has.

Surely now this ridiculous witch hunt will end now.........

What's next to be suddenly deemed "illicit"?

its only 25 years old, so i wouldn't say its ingrained in our history, so not a big loss imo.

what about "ooh ahh yer sister's yer Ma" when the huns come to town? :icon_mrgreen:

We could get really creative with this and change it every week.

We could have a cross forum poll for what is sang the following match :56:
