davie what are you on about? You questioned the idea of signing a player because he had played a gaelic sport, and we're just letting you know that there have been plenty of examples of guys who played both gaelic sport and football.

Aussie rules fitness & fitness coaching is of a higher standard than football.

Its nothing new to you because I've had to repeat myself several times.

Fitness coaching has little to do with the skill of any sport. Its all fitness

Big mad mental Davie fae Glesga, thinks he's a * ticket calling people names on a message board haha. Get a grip bud.

My point is this, we signed Sheridan from an Irish League team a year ago and the progress he's made has been amazing. How do you know this McAlister bhoy won't do the same?

You really are thick arent you?:31: Either that or you are just very stubborn and refuse to concede any point in an argument/debate Davie.:37:

Of course new sports equipment and better facilities helps to improve you as a player.
Having spent 3 years at Sportscotland down in Largs as a sports science student i can assure you mate that the better the equipment and facilities are then the more you are going to improve!!!

As for your throwaway comments about pele training with a coconut and wee jinky roond his back (did you know he used a tennis ball) these guys had natural talent for the game and thats the way it is with some players. Some fortunate people i.e. pele, jinky, maradona and ronaldo have natural talent just like ronnie osullivan in snooker he has a natural talent for playing snooker. Unfortunatley for the rest of us that are not so gifted we have to train more and practice harder and beleive me davie the better quality your equipment the better your results will be and that my friend is a FACT whether you like it or not:37:

It's the same in any profession, sports or otherwise, the better equipment you have the more you are going to learn/advance.

Look, i'm all for snapping up 10 young footballers at 100k a go. If one of them makes it to a reasonably high standard then we will have made our money back. If our Irish connections make us extra attractive to promising players in Ireland then lets exploit that. It doubles the population pool of potential players that see Celtic as one of THE big clubs.

For too long Celtic have sat bavck and expected us to fiind our talent within 20 miles of Parkhead like it was in the Lions era. That doesn't happen any more.

I do think that WGS pays more attention to the youth setup than MON did. Look at the way Maloney came through. Alot of it is down to finances but i do think WGS is more interested in improving young players.

Davie, people are pointing out these expections to the rule because you post in a manner that exceptions dont happen.

Like our oz fitness coaches, there are people that crossover that dont have the media attention that the likes of woodward gets, i.e we dont hear about it

I apologise to everyone for throwing this off topic again but I wont be made the fool :84: :37: I can't believe you're hauling me up for saying 100%. But then again you have been talking complete rubbish ALL of this thread.

Your other quote 'Strachans destorying the team' is wrong on so many levels its not even worth discussing. The main point of this thread however is regarding this guy Mcallister. Why so much fuss for signing a hot prospect on the cheap? What if he turns into the next Rooney, no in fact if he turned into a Liam Miller or McGeady. I bet you wouldn't be so gutted about losing the weekly pennies if thats the case.

Also its a well known fact (if you listen to Lawell) that Strachans era has seen a complete restructure of the back-end of the club, INCLUDING as Dempsey said our scouting network - just google for some Strachan quotes about this. Also in recent seasons Aiden McGeady, Shaun Maloney, John Kennedy, Liam Miller, Darren O'Dea, Craig Beattie and Stephen McManus have all emerged from the youth ranks at Celtic to make major contributions for the first team and (youth coach) McLaughlin insists there are more to follow.

What exactly is your beef with our setup? Won the league 13 points clear of the gers, got last 16 in Europe, Scottish Cup final to win and as previously stated we have a great setup. Obviously there have been poor performers of late but why dont you give Strachan the chance to reinvigorate the team over the summer now that theres now (excluding the cup) nothing to play for!
