Tamster, I know for a fact you like this website as you continue to come back time after time.

Why then can't you simply not act the way you do that gets you infracted and banned? A lot of other people like you as well because you bring balance to the board.

Give the subtle abuse, especially to staff, a rest eh?

    Apologies
    that should have read
HUns have won less and drawn MORE games than us

My point about us scoring twice as many goals as Hearts is valid,we have scored 49% more goals than they have, I'm happy with a 1% tolerance in the stats.

Care to comment on your inaccuracies?

You're righy Hammer i do like the site.

UNfortunately DEMPSEY has an obsession with banning me EVERY time he is on the back foot.

THen he starts HOMOPHOBIC remarks and PERSONAL ABUSE towards me.

THat is not a healthy way for a forum moderator to behave.

Maybe he should be advised to wind his neck in ??

As they say, a little bit of power.......................

I think people are missing the main point here - the slender profit margin despite 3 great years in terms of the coffers. A half year which includes the CL money is a lot better than the next half. Also 8 million before tax and with 1 million debt is not a lot of money after tax, about enough for one decent 4-5 million poind player plus a years wages. So, yes we could have bought one good players or two of the same sort of standard we have but people who think we should be buying several much higher level players need to think about the slender margin of post-tax profit we are looking at (and even that off the back of a 3 runs in the of CL in a row), little debt and little spending. In other words, the profit will not get better than this and probably will drop more. So, we are running pretty close to the maximum player/wages outlay we can stretch to without going into debt. The best we can hope for is one or (when Bobo's wages are freed up) maybe two decent 4 million pound type players in the summer. Anything more will just be spending money we do not have.

Imagine one season without UCL football gunt, everything unravels very quickly but people arent thinking like this which is really worrying.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of Dempsey. I've a feeling we've got too little options up front. I hope we don't regret it. The CL is a must every season from now when Rangers have no spending power at all.

i think looking back say the last ten years we havent had a good record off selling players and doing that well out off the deal.the deal to get up to 8 millon for petrov wasnt a bad one.even the quick 3 millon on miller.
fergie off man utd has great record off selling at the right times.how many has he sold who went on to become better players.he has receved good transfer fees for some,to help finance some off his bigger moves.
i remember selling viduka and buying sutton for similar money, that was a great move.but how many players in the past have reached their peak, were worth a few pound, but either declined or left for very little.likes off agathe, balde, thompson, naka and even zurawski after his first season.i hope we havent missed the boat with boruc and mc geady.

Thanks to the board for their prudence and wisdom, it's a shame they are not running this Island.

Interesting read in this morning's Times with Dr.Reid being interviewed by Graham Spiers.

John Reid: my manic life at Celtic | Scotland - Times Online

I'd urge all the doubters to read that and then sit back and seriously consider what they expect Celtic can do in regard to splashing cash about!

That article should be compulsary reading.

This quote from the article shows exactly what we are up against as we try to strengthen the squad.

"Szabolcs Huszti, who, despite Celtic's best efforts, ended up going to Zenit St Petersburg, who thought nothing of paying £2.3million for the player, despite the fact that Huszti only had four months remaining on his contract at Hannover 96."

How can we compete with lunacy like that ?

Is that the guy who looks amazing, and scored for his new club zenit in the uefa the other night there???? the man zenit bought to replace arshavin?????

We obvoiusly done our home work on the guy, and probly * up big style waiting on him, so we can get him on a free:86:

I hear the guy was desperate to join us:50:

2.3 is a lot of money for a player with 4 month in his contract remaining but if your getting a playmaking talent like him, at the age of 25, it would without a doubt be money well spent.

It's got nothing to do with the remaining length of contracts, it's what we think the player is worth.

How much were we going to spend on Fletcher - more? At least about the same.

Who is the better player, Naka will probably go & Huszti was an ideal replacement - well worth 2.3 million, regardless of his contract & we HAD the money to pay for it - that's lunacy.
