As for Føroyar (The Faroes), I think that they should go independent and then form a federal republic with Ísland (Iceland). I hope Iceland's historic qualification for the Brazil World Cup. The Football Top-flight of Ísland (Iceland) consists of 10 teams (reduced from 12). I think that if there is a big team of Føroyar (The Faroes), they can play in the Icelandic league on the same basis of Welsh teams in England, Andorra teams in Spain, Lichtenstein teams in Helvetia (Switzerland).

 

Iceland haven't qualified for Brazil have they? I'm not 100% sure they are even guaranteed a play off spot yet.

Although I'd love to see Iceland get there, if only for Hoppipolla :icon_mrgreen:

 

They aren't there yet but they sit second in their group with one game left, away to Norway (who are out). Switzerland have won the group.

Second place is a play-off. I'd imagine the draw would be seeded?

Edit.. its still complicated.

If they finish second they are guaranteed a play off spot.

They can still finish in 3rd and Slovenia could finish 2nd, but Slovenia could finish as the worst runners up and miss out on a play off.

 

I remember Scotland beating Latvia at CP. In a qualifier for World Cup 98.

 

Yip, second place is a play-off and the play-off's are seeded. The seeding is done on current world rankings so can see Iceland (if they get there) having a hard draw against the likes of Croatia, Portugal, France and Ukraine etc.
