Celtic Interested in Robbo *MERGED*

Discussion in 'Transfer Rumours' started by South Side Bhoy, Jul 31, 2008.

  1. As long as he doesnt play like Helen Daniels i'll be happy :50:

  2. Lol - Only 10%

A * lot more than you think over the course of 3 seasons!

  3. Give it 2 seasons and I bet that the stats are very close.

Now look at the money MON spent. I will give you 1 Berkovich £5.75mil.

What has WGS spent? Not very much compared to money recouped

  4. imagine him and bobo in the same team, not that its gonna happen, but man they would scare the * out of any forward:icon_mrgreen:

  5. MON didn't sign Berkovic

  6. im pretty sure MON didny buy berkovich, was it not Barnes, he did however get £18m to spend on lenny, sutton and hartson

  7. It was defo Barnes - and for too much f^cking dough as well.

  8. Where the * is our money going, thats what i wanna know? We're out of debt, we have one of the top 20 incomes in Europe yet we're still bargain hunting with championship/spl standard players.

  9. Fair enough then I'll admit that MON's team were perhaps a better team but they were a better team full of bottlers who lost leagues on the last day and final in extra time. Also, none of the Rangers teams that MON faced were good enough to get to a European final (the defining achievement that makes MON's team so good).

But i digress. All i want at left back is a solid pro that isn't going to give the ball away or constantly get caught out of position like Naylor. If you want something better than that then you have to pay over 20k a week for it and i'd rather see the big wages be spent on strikers/creative players. Robinson is an experienced pro in the prime of his career who we can pick up on the cheap. If he was under a longer contract then he would probably cost 3m plus.

  10. Good post, still say that the Huns were nowhere NEAR good enough to feature in a Euro Final either, though - blind luck, and it was a f^cking farce.

Regarding Robinson, it's only the years on his contract that make his less valuable right enough - for all we know, Robinson may be looking for a lengthy contract, and we know that West Brom have a very tight wage budget (losing Zoltan Gera was a bad move), so i wouldn't call him bargain basement at all. I would be delighted to see him at CP. Hardy f^cker who would bin the knobs of this world (someone mentioned Novo, and i couldn't agree more - ideally his kneecap would be dispatched into the stands in the 90th minute of an Old Firmer with us 3 up).

  11. MON didn't buy Berkovic or Scheidt. Every manager signs duds and good 'uns too. For example, Barnes signed Petrov and Mjallby. O'Neil got more cash to spend granted and he did have Henrik too which if Strachan had, would make a big big difference. It's the signing policy that gets me though. O'Neil signed Guppy, Sylla, Juninho, Pearson, Camara(loan), Fernandez but the list of Strachans duds are absolutely endless!

  12. Are you seriously trying to tell me that the Rangers team which had Klos, Numan, Moore, Amoruso, Arteta, Ferguson, Cannigia etc weren't as good as the guff they have now?

  13. Much maligned as Novo is at least he adds a bit of handbags ot OF games. Since we've lost Lenny and Thompson and the huns have lost Ricksen that has been missing. If this Robinson brings a bit of the slightly-dirty-tackle-leads-to-10-man-brawl back to Glasgow then i'll be delighted.

  14. Celtic are saying they are aiming for the last 8 of the champions league? Not with signings like that, shouldn't even be considered!

  15. Here's the thing: we can't get a team of 8 years ago to play a team of today. The only thing we can do is compare their records.

The current team's record is better domestically that MON's and it has gotten further in Europe than MON's.

The current team got to Rangers' first European final since the 70s, meaning it can't be that bad. Yes they were lucky to get there but every team needs a bit of luck to win things. We got through the semi finals on a coin toss in 1967.

  16. good enough for spl not europe

  17. Exactly

at least were being linked with a left back now instead of having to play someone out of position

  18. I think we should give this guy a chance. Looks as if he could be a gd bit of business if we snap him up now. You Can't really say enythin bout him not bein gd enough for europe until we actually see him play on a champs league nite.

  19. I honestly think he'd be a cracking signing for us. Granted, he's not as much ability as Rat but this guy gives 110%, wears his heart on his sleeve and definately aint a bottler. He's a hard tackler too, something Naylor isn't. I'd be delighted if he signed!
