It is very much chicken and egg though. I agree it is a carve up but it nevertheless ensures the best teams in Europe are playing for the biggest trophy. Of course these same teams keep getting better precisely because they are in the Champions League while others get left behind.

I think there should be no seeding in the tournament at all. I think seeding is a terrible idea in general. But I do appreciate why it makes more sense to see teams like Arsenal and Athletico Madrid in the champions league, despite not winning anything, rather than teams like Elfsborg battling Karagandy. It is annoying Celtic has to play 3 qualifiers to get there while a team finishing 4th in the EPL would likely play 1 or none at all. But at the same team a team like Everton may argue that finishing 4th in the EPL is a lot tougher than finishing top of the Scottish, or many other smaller leagues, in Europe.

Money has created a imbalance in domestic leagues, both in themselves, and compared against each other. And certainty no team has any "right" to anything. I cant really see any way around it.

If they truly wanted a fair game then not seeding any team isn't a bad idea IMO, let's be honest how many times would we really see the "lesser" clubs make it in the CL, there may be the odd time like APEOL but it won't be that often with seeds or not if you ask me.

It's like the FFP while I can understand the sentiment behind it I can't see how it will close any gaps between the "lesser" clubs because if you can only technically spend what bring in then in a european stand point clubs like us will stay where we are as we simply can't bring in anymore money then we already do while other leagues continue to get bumper deals etc...
