Aberdeen v St Johnstone was supposed to go ahead with Aberdeen 8 players down, Aberdeen accepted this and were willing to play. So who has made the decision today to postpone the game and how does that affect our game for next week v the sheep?

The games should go ahead with Aberdeen minus hte players, or award the win to the other team. I just don't understand how the decision is taken on Thurs that the game goes ahead and then * knows who decides today that it's off?

    Utter nonsense.

If that was the case why was football given special treatment ahead of other sports and sectors? I'm sure there was plenty of other things in these times Scottish Government could have prioritised and spent their time on. It's not like there aren't enough fires to put out already.

The fact that players in our league are stupid enough to break that agreement after the very first game says it all really. From what I can tell this was all spelled out loud and clear to clubs and players so there isn't any excuse. I don't think we'll get a second chance.

If it was then it would only be a postponement to 21/22

I think the league would just get called again at a certain number of games ...

    the rules are unchanged.

Since the whole Aberdeen thing kicked off, there have been a lot of viewpoints with regards to how Scottish Football is doing/ will deal with the situation.

I think the manner and extent of the Aberdeen situation, will be an exception to the rule, rather than being the standard.

Our players should be in a better position than most to adhere to the regulations and guidelines. Players should have enough support and systems in place, where the chances of them being in situations of being overly exposed to the virus are minimal. However, its not the same for a number of other clubs. Many of these players don't take home as substantial a wage or have other provisions.

Its going to be difficult. We need the players of all clubs to be more disciplined and controlled with their behaviours than ever before. One more slip of Aberdeen levels and every * is *.

The Joint Response Group today outlines a wide range of measures agreed with the Scottish Government to reinforce Scottish football’s commitment to public health and adherence to protocols.

These measures have been approved by the JRG and follow extensive discussions with Scottish Government Ministers and health advisers.

    They are as follows:

    ENFORCEMENT
The JRG has worked to ensure that existing rules will be strengthened to include the provision of sanctions for players who do not adhere to COVID-specific football protocols or government public health guidelines. This will encompass recent breaches and further details will be provided tomorrow.
    EVALUATION
In order to provide government health officials with the necessary confidence that Scottish football can return safely and in accordance with relevant government guidelines and football protocols, the Scottish FA has agreed that the return to training for clubs outwith the SPFL Premiership – which includes all organised * football over-18 – will be delayed until at least 24 August, pending updated government guidance on the 20th. This is to ensure that:

    • All club facilities comply with the current JRG Protocols, social distancing and hygiene measures.

    • All club policies and procedures comply with the current protocols and government guidance.

    • Club testing regimes in the professional game comply with the protocols.

    • Players and staff at all levels of the game have been reminded of the latest government guidance.
    EDUCATION
Professor Jason Leitch, the National Clinical Director for Scotland, has produced a video message outlining, in the clearest terms, what professional footballers can and cannot do within the existing government guidelines. This message will be reinforced on a regular basis via digital communication.

    ENGAGEMENT
The SPFL and Scottish FA have gifted Scottish Government advertising space to promote public health messaging on matchdays in-stadia, using LED advertising and via other owned assets for all SPFL competitions and the William Hill Scottish Cup semi- finals and final.

Rod Petrie, Joint Response Group Chair: “The message from First Minister could not have been clearer. The JRG must now ensure that the planned resumption of football beyond the Scottish Premiership is done in a controlled manner with the strictest adherence to protocols and guidelines.

“The pause on the return to training for the professional game outwith the Scottish Premiership will not impact on the proposed start dates of the respective league competitions but will give sufficient time to reinforce protocols, educate players and make sure of the ability of clubs in the lower divisions to conform.”

Neil Doncaster, SPFL Chief Executive: “Today’s measures underline the fact that Scottish football is doing everything it possibly can to protect our game. The recent, high-profile breaches must be used as further motivation for all those with our game’s best interests at heart to comply absolutely with these necessary restrictions and safeguards.”

    Additional guidance notes

    1. Glasgow City Women’s FC can continue to train in preparation for their UEFA Women’s Champions League tie against Wolfsburg on 21 August and will be visited to audit and verify compliance.
    2. Heart of Midlothian FC has been informed of the need to pause their current training programme until at least 24 August.
    3. * (over-18) recreational football will not be permitted to participate in any form of organised training.
    4. Youth (under-18) football can continue in line with current Scottish Government guidance.

Any retrospective action would be out of order IMO. The Aberdeen and Boli incidents should be treated as first and final warnings. If they are going to bring new sanctions in, in an effort to ensure rules are followed then fine. But it would hugely unfair to use new rules to punish previous offences.

This all day. Sfa/ SPFL had a chance to announce sanctions if protocols and guidelines were breached before the season started. They also had a chance to lay the law down when the Huns started that friendly whilst players were waiting for results. Instead they dithered then let the Huns off because it was a communication error. If their leadership was stronger and not favouring one club then maybe the Sheep players and Boli might have thought a lot more carrying out the actions they did.

Sports stadiums in Scotland could reopen to fans on 14 September, with restricted numbers in attendance.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the indicative date in parliament, along with plans for theatres and live music venues.

She stressed that it would be for a "limited number of spectators and with strict physical distancing in place".

Sturgeon also spoke of the possibility of test events taking place before any reopening.

The Scottish Premiership season started on 1 August behind closed doors. Clubs in the Championship and Leagues One and Two begin their 2020-21 season with Betfred Cup matches on 6 October, while the league campaigns kick off on 17 October.

The Scottish FA had hoped to have some supporters at Scotland's Nations League match against Israel on 4 September but European governing body Uefa has ruled out a return for fans at its competitions any time during that month.

Scottish Rugby is hoping the Pro14 match between Edinburgh and Glasgow at Murrayfield on 28 August will be used as a test event.

BBC Scotland understands a proposal that would see 700 fans in attendance could be signed off in the next couple of days.

Government officials had been working on a plan to partially open Musselburgh Racecourse to the public for a meeting on 26 August, but that has now been ruled out.

Announcing plans to reopen gyms, swimming pools and indoor sports courts from 31 August, Sturgeon said: "Given the volatility of the virus, there is the very real possibility that some, or all, of these plans could change.

"With that significant caveat, we hope that sports stadiums will be able to reopen from 14 September - but only for a limited number of spectators and with strict physical distancing in place.

"Some professional sports events might be arranged for spectators before then, with Scottish government agreement to test the safety of any new arrangements."

The first minister also hopes that indoor contact sports can resume for people aged 12 and over from 14 September.

    'It's really promising' - reaction
Scottish football figures have welcomed the announcement that partial crowds could be allowed back into stadiums from 14 September.

Celtic winger James Forrest: "It's really promising. When we played a couple of pre-season games in France with just a couple of thousand fans it makes a difference, so it will be beneficial for the players to get that bit of atmosphere."

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin: "We want to get our passionate supporters back in as soon as possible. It's not the same without them. They are a huge part of the game."

Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist: "It is going to be good for Scottish football and society if you look at the bigger picture. It will bring a bit more normality."
