Hot on the heels of Sunday’s derby win, there’s more of the same to come next Tuesday at Celtic Park as the Celtic B team aim to keep the feel-good factor going as they take on their city rivals in the Lowland League.

Tommy McIntyre’s side will face Rangers at Celtic Park next Tuesday night (April 12) with a 7:30pm kick-off, and you can secure your seat for this midweek clash now.

Young Hoops defender, Ewan Otoo is returning from injury and completed another step forward when he took part in the in the 4-2 win over Dalbeattie Star on Saturday after a setback earlier in the year.

On the debit side, though, the 19-year-old has missed two derbies already this term, but that has made him even more determined to enjoy the action next Tuesday in front of a crowd at Celtic Park.

He said: “I’ve been looking forward to it for the past couple of weeks really, obviously it was gutting to miss the first two, but I’ve always been looking forward and focusing ahead on the main game out here, so I’m really looking forward to going out in front of the fans as well.”

And the teenager who featured in Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squads when the Hoops travelled south for their pre-season schedule, doesn’t have far to look for inspiration following Sunday’s 2-1 win at Ibrox for the senior Celts.

He said: “Obviously, watching that game was very motivational for us, because we are looking to replicate that kind of thing in a game as big as the one we are playing in next week.

‘So, hopefully we can put in the same kind of performance as the first team did, and come out with a win.’

“Their style of play is something that we can really try to replicate. They are playing really well, but mainly they all fight for each other, they all pull in the same direction and they’ve all got the same end goal. You really see that in the pitch, so hopefully we can do the same."

Otoo spent the latter part of the 2020/21 season on loan at Clyde where he turned out in 11 League One outings as well as two Scottish Cup games for the Broadwood club, so he’s used to playing in front of a crowd expecting to be entertained – but he knows this is different.

He said of the Celtic crowd: “I think that’s a key factor for the game next week - a big crowd, a big stadium, a lot of us playing there for the first time, so we can’t wait to be honest.”

And he is intent on not only making up for missing the two previous derbies, but joining his team-mates in atoning for a 1-1 draw in the Glasgow Cup and a 3-0 defeat in the league and he insists the mood in the camp is up there.

Otoo said: “We’re confident going into the game. We are itching to get back out there and give a real account of ourselves.

“We feel that the last two games, especially the most recent one, we didn’t give the best account of ourselves.

'So, we’re looking forward to going out there and proving ourselves.'

“Personally I can’t wait to go out there and play in front of the fans and hopefully put on a good show, a good performance and hopefully have the fans talking about us for the next few weeks.”
