The Celtic B team produced a stylish performance to beat Partick Thistle 5-0 today (Wednesday), with Karamoko Dembele netting twice for the Hoops and both Mikey Johsnton and Johnny Kenny also amongst the scorers.

While there was a slow start to the game, it was Tommy McIntyre’s side who started to take control, with Owen Moffat and Mikey Johnston linking up well on the left flank.

And just after the half-hour mark, Celtic delivered a double blow to Thistle when first Johnny Kenny pounced on a rebound after the Thistle keeper had saved Dembele’s effort. Barely 60 seconds later, it was 2-0 to the Hoops as Dembele latched on to a Johnston pass before firing his shot into the net.

Celtic had the ball in the net again before the break, but Dane Murray’s header from a Makenzie Carse free-kick was ruled out for offside.

However, it only took the Hoops three minutes into the second half to extend their lead when Johnston curled a superb shot into the corner of the net, leaving the Thistle goalkeeper with no chance.

With 12 minutes of the match remaining, Dembele grabbed his second goal of the game when he fired a shot over the keeper from the edge of the box.

And in the last minute, Joey Dawson made it 5-0 following good work from substitute, Rocco Vata, who drove into the box before squaring it for the striker to score. The result has secured Celtic's place in the semi-final of the competition.

Dembele looked ridiculous there. The touch for his first goal was mental. Some ball by Mikey as well..

Both scored a couple of crackers after that as well..

 

Some cracking goals as well. That touch for Dembele for his first goal and the finish for both Johnston and Dembele’s 2nd are very good regardless of who you are playing.

I think given the chance Dembele would make some impact of the right in a front 3 with Jota on the other side.

What will the Partick coach be saying about the defender ducking his head for the third goal?

 

I see the young hoops are playing the durties tomorrow at the * pit at 1pm, hopefully get a good result and stay above them and then take care of business on the 12th and we should be guaranteed to be above them come the end of the season
