I’m not too sure tbh. I’m all for having a colts side but thought would be in a better league and at a higher standard. Surely playing against other academy/youth teams would be better/more competitive no? It’s still early days but I’m just wondering if it will actually be that beneficial

Moffat should be shadowing Kyogo in training. Really similar style, movement, work rate etc.

Problem is there is no youth league and I don't think just playing bounce games helps them. They need to play competition who will give there all.
Scottish football has such a weird set up, no relegation from league 2 until 2016 either, with so guaranteed relegation. Clubs, SPFL and SFA too stubborn and selfish to put the changes in place to Scottish football which it badly needs. Changes that would not only improve the competition in Scotland but the quality of football and by allowing our b teams into the second tier it would improve our national team. Spain and Portugal have b teams in 2nd and 3rd tiers, Germany has a some in 3rd tier, England has premier league 2 and I'm sure more countries have the same.

Sounds like a shambolic set up in Scotland.
What is the issues with Celtic and Huns putting a B team in the lower leagues, surely would be a welcome revenue injection for those lower league sides?

Lower League sides don’t think so, they’ve rejected it.

I don't see it happening. Their fans also don't want it.

All the smaller teams in this country hate the big 2, they wont want us to have 2 teams each in the pyramid...

Because they’re bitter and regressive. There is zero implications for them, none! Only positives, more fans going to their grounds, more interest in the league, more potential revenue in sponsorship and it’s not like we will try to compete with them in transfers either as it’s our youth team, where the scouting and signing of the players has already been done. It’s actually laughable that they won’t even consider it.

Thats a big one for me already, keeping an eye on the league week in week out not just the B teams scores either! Bonnyrigg Rose where I stay next to had a full house v us, revenue was through the roof.

Exactly mate. The only thing they totally agree on is the hatred of us & the huns. I don't think this will ever see the light of day.

Promotion places, that’s the only argument. If they can be denied that.

It also breeds higher quality players for the enviornment they’re in. Ten years of it and the level will be raised.

It’s the usual nonsense when it comes to denying the opportunity to field a B team.

Being honest it’s not even like it’s even a full B team allowed under current rules, guys like Connell, Shaw, McInroy, Robertson, Henderson and OConnor are not even allowed to play in the league it seems. We really need to get those boys loaned out if they are not even making the squad for match day so they are actually playing regular football.

The only reason we were allowed entry in to this Lowland league was on the condition we can't get promoted. Basically they wanted to have their cake and eat. Extra revenue from gate receipts but with zero risk to their own progression up the league's.

These clubs will never let a Colts/B team into the league pyramid permanently, even if our progress was blocked at championship level. Eventually we would blaze through the lower divisions and the only financial benefit would go to the championship clubs year on year and we would have denied a number of them promotion along the way.

Really don't know where the Colts team go from here bcos this is a one off season. The development of these players will become more and more crucial to us in this current climate and yet they will probably have no-one to play going forward. Our real top talents are leaving en masse and considering what is going on at that level it's hardly surprising.

Any way the b teams could go into the premier League 2? The lowlands league has been very good to these players so far. The game at the weekend was not reflective of the competitive nature of the games either. That team are getting hammered by everyone. Colts team that played at weekend have potentially 6 future Scottish internationals. It can be easily seen the effect of consistent competitive games for these players and playing with each other. The SFA have to allow for a competitive structure for the academy's of Celtic sevco etc.thw whole of Scottish football benefit from the bigger Scottish teams developing and producing professional footballers of various abilities.

Even the smaller clubs ‘try’ to develop their own players. Most have U8 - U17 squads U8-14 they have 2 squads of 14. This is often an exercise in getting as many kids playing football as the can (all for that) but then charge them £2-3 a week for facilities, that’s when it becomes a numbers game to coin it in at there expense, this is where I have a problem. 200+ kids at £3 a week is £600 to play on plastic pitches. That doesn’t wash with me, then 1 in every 1000 will make it to the U18s if they’re lucky.
