I really don't. The way I make money is capitalism at it's finest. I'm all for money! However, school playgrounds have a means of being monitored, facebook doesn't. It's probaby hypocritical of someone in an internet forum to argue against facebook but some of the hatred spewed there and on twitter is horrifying. It's also in my opinion yet another thing keeping kids away from socialising with each other properly. I just don't like it. Fair enough, I didn't make my point in the first post but hopefully have now.

I don't think it's a new fad, but we've made great strides in these increasing in recent years.

also, apologies for the sneer bit, it was the wrong choice of words. When I see "Liewell" it just gets my back up.

With the notable exception of the Celtic View, Celtic has always been slow on the uptake of new medias and marketing. I remember hearing about the pre-season friendlies in the USA, where the only merchandise on sale was from a single stall outside the ground that ran out of shirts long before the game started. That was a few years ago so don't know if that was ever improved.

Perfect example of this is when you see big johan waiving around to floppy bits of paper around in the wind as he is trying to explain to the substitutes their positions for set pieces.

Real Madrid and Barca have got * ipads, cmon celtic get the finger oot and get with the times lol

Then you might better shut off the internet then...the things named above are all over the internet (So used as a tool to spread the hate too) and you don't mind using it. Some of them * might even use the same provider as you do.

Don't know if it's just me but everytime I try to click on the links along the top of the official site Nothing happens it just reloads the home page:97:If it actually worked right I think the celtic site is pretty good tbh....

The with the times thing though, I'm pretty sure the celtic have just gone interactive with the match day programmes to get more people reading them, Can't remember where I seen that though.....

the difference between a random internet forum and facebook is astronomical. It's a direct route to you, like someone calling you at home. Which explains it's use as a marketing tool.

Just thought I would bring this back up seen as Celtic have sorted a twitter out although by the looks of things I don't think they should have bothered it's already looking like what Neil Lennons account is just a robot.

They've already ruled out RT'ing anyone in their FAQ's so in a few weeks I can't see their being any interaction there isn't a verified tick they said this is because Twitter have stopped it which is bullshit.

It just looks like an * effort again they must still think people actually buy the Celtic view.

Just take a look at these if Celtic can get anywhere near something as simple as this then they will be doing good but i highly doubt it.

tbf i don't use twitter so i don't care. all official news comes up on my facebook feed and quite frankly i'm glad it doesn't clog it up like other pages would. only the official need to know stuff.

the other speculative news i get from my Celtic app on my phone. i'm cool with all this.

there's such a thing as strangling your fans with too much jargon through different technologies.

Yes but it is still not very much I reckon. If you look at the Official Bayern Munchen Facebook: they have 2.852.764 likes!

That's expected because they're a bigger team than us but I would still expect Celtic to be around that number regardless.

What isn't is teams like Aston Villa who have hundreds of thousands more either we're on a large downfall or it's something else.

Yes ofcourse they're bigger, but I dont expect us to hit 3 million likes.
But if you look at our fanbase, you can say 1 million likes wouldnt be strange.

And as you say, the likes of Aston Villa have bigger pages than us. We can do a lot better

Munich itself is about 1/3 the size of scotland. Germany's population is 16 times bigger than Scotland and Bayern is that country's biggest team. Even with the diaspora supporting Celtic, Bayern probably manages a larger fanbase even if it is largely confined to Germany.

They are bigger though that's just a fact it doesn't come down to personal opinions. Most successful team in Germany which is a much better footballing country and four European Cups, you can't really argue with stats like that. Obviously not saying everyone who has won more European Cups than us are therefore bigger (Nottingham Forest lol) but the teams that have won 3,4,5 or more are the biggest of the big guns as they also mostly have the long term domestic history to go along with it.

I would hate to see us become something like Man City, their marketing and PR is just ridiculous. The whole Nasri signing saga with the video of him meeting Gary Cook and the FIFA image of him scoring against United was so cringeworthy, if we were to do it differently and come up with something inventive to market the club online then I would be all for it but there is a fine line between innovation and what City are doing.

Bayern are Germanys biggest team and one of the greatest teams in Europe in the past and present we're not bigger than them.

We are estimated to have a fan base of 9 Million there are around 500 million people on Facebook yet we have around 140,000 on it to me that's a little embarrassing.

I agree totally with Paolo, good post mate, Man City are really leading the way in terms of interaction right now, very clever PR from them as they know everyone hates them for "buying the league" - even though that's what teams have done since the beginning of time.... but anyway they are making some neutrals like them again by showing funny little videos and behind the scenes stuff.

As you said it's petty but a lot of fans, myself included, would be really interested in seeing just a few behind the scenes shots from Lennoxtown or before a matchday, a couple more informal interviews with the Bhoys, not just them saying the same old rehearsed cliche infront of a camera - I want to know what Hooper, Kayal, Izzy and co really think about things. I want to see all of Broony's antics in person!
