Just out of curiosity would you complain if say, Scolari came ? Even though he made a disaster of Chelski ? or because hes a big name its "ok"

    We make our own names.

    Welcome Tony.

Scolari is the biggest * of all people in football. I wouldn't like see him anywhere near CP.

As for Mowbray, I also said welcome to him in my previous post.:50:

pure gutted that we now look to have picked the new man. i dont feel he has enough experience as a manager, be it in managing a team as big as celtic or in having the tactical experience in pitting his wits against euro opponents......my big fear with mowbray is in his ethos in how the game should be played......he seems to believe in the we'll score more goals than you philosophy, which is all well and good until you come up against a team with the tactical awareness and skill to combat that problem.
i watched celtic team after celtic team ultimately fail at winning leagues because they shipped too many goals......this again is my fear under the stewardship of tony mowbray.

i hope i am proved wrong and this time next year we are celebrating the return of the trophy's we loaned out.
as a celtic fan i will give my support to whoever gets the post..... but at this juncture i think i am entitled to ask for a detailed explanation from the club on why tony was the best candidate to bring us forward in europe when he hasnt competed as a manager at that level.
also his club was just relegated.....hardly an inspiring choice.
but.........when the season begins he'll get my support........ but i will need to be convinced he's the man for the job.

Very hard to compare. I know its a lower standard in the SPL and (I cant be arsed Wikipediaing the above lot) but I think none of them won more than a couple of EPLs as manager. Certainly none are near Stein or Ferguson in achievements IMO. Dont get me wrong Shankly was a brilliant character but Paisley really hoovered up the honours even if Shankly built the base. Anyway, I dont want to end up in the weird position of defending Wattie but he is overall similar to the above. I think he knows his players and what they can and cant do and is a wiley fox with a lot of tactical ability. Certainly in purely Scottish football terms noone other than Stein can touch his CV. As long as the next manager is up to it then happy days but niaive bucaneering attacking football does not work against Wattie. We have been there before. The new manager will have to be a lot cleverer that just sending out his best ball players. Wattie in the UEFA cup run showed he can neutralise some very decent teams attacks.

i think the problem was the whole list of candidates was shocking.
i believe we should have been looking at a sven goran ericksson....or a roy hodgson or someone of that ilk......the fact that a club like celtic holds no interest to these guys says a lot about where our club is right now........or where they even approached.

i dont think scolari would have been a good choice. too long out of club fitba. with the exception of his time at chelski. which may prove my point. i reckon i could take those brazilian boys to the world cup final......its easy when you got good players. hard making a silk purse fae a sows ear. so for him to fail at chelsea...says a lot

Yeah and I'm sure you were complaining when we beat Man Utd and made the last 16 twice. Strachan did ok in Europe all things considered. He never solved the away form conundrum but getting us through the group stage twice wasn't bad going. One of the few areas of Strachan's management I wouldn't criticise too much.

Mowbray could quite conceivably do just as well if he gets the job.

Dont understand paying that much compensation for manager like Mowbray :| crazy fee's, that could have been Rijkaards salary for a year or two! Would rather have brought in a different manager because there is nothing special about Mowbray. And add the compensation to the transfer funds! I mean we all like Mowbrays footballing philosophy's of attractive football but iv never been impressed by his signings the only one i wouldnt mind is Fortune.

No it couldn't. Rijkaard would have been on alot more than that. He would also require lots of money to spend. Hes untested at a club like celtic...i.e limited funds.

firstly let me clarify that i was a strachan fan....but it took winning the league in his first season to convince me. fact is that for me the mowbray signing is a risky one.... when i felt we should have picked a manager who was less of a risk due to their experience.

    Every manager is a risk.
