i read today spurs are bidding 12 mill for cordoza, a bit out of our league i think. ebanks blake??? jesus! dont think i'd have i'd have him ahead of skippy or JVOH and mexes isn't gonna come to the SPL

 

you play FM08 by any chance? Seems the players you keep suggesting are * in that game. Or amybe not i dunno.

Mexes out of our price range big time. He is being touted at £15 million at times. Bridge i agree with. A very good talent and seems to be wasted at Chelsea but again it's all about if we could afford his price tag. They would want around £7m i reckon. Appiah out of our oprice range also. Ebanks Blake, Good lower league player but doubt he'd be any good for us. Cordoza is being touted for at least £10 m so far.

 

Why not spend what me have? I'd spend a lot of money if the player is class. Why not one of these:Bystrov, Pavlyuchenko, C. Davies...? That would give us strength in CL.

 

Look at the financial mess that Rangers were in a few years ago under McLeish. That is why we won't be spending £10million on any players any time soon.

 

Cant see mexes or cordoza signing mate, and why drop mcdonald ?

Why drop Mcdonald? Because he's a greedy lout who cant read a game of football.
Give us someone who can read the headers that JVOH wins week in week out and someone who will actually pass the ball when someone else is in a better position.

All the times Gordon Strachan said "we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net", how many times was Mcdonald accountable because he wouldn't pass the ball, or because he was offside for the 10th time in the match. He's a goal poacher, nothing more.

 

i agree with you saying thats mcdonald a poacher ,cos hes not a great player if you catch my drift ,but dont slaughter him mate ,he did score a barrow load of goals ,but i do agree with the footballing side of it

 

so you would drop one of are best players, the top scorer in scotland, goal poacher most strikers are though i dont see why your slating mcdonald he has had a great first season no bad when you get 31 goals and where they all from goal poaching no !

 

They spent their money carelessly throughout a longer period. Spending on 1-2 very good players won't kill us, it's spending on duds that killed them and would us.

 

Celtic wont go down that road mate, its not just buying £10 mill players its the wages and signing on fees, they have a structure at the club now that I dont think you will see changing anytime soon, Not with SPL finances.
As much as we would all love these Bigger signings, I dont see the club doing anything to jepordise the sound financial state were in.

 

Get rid of the deadwood then. We need to buy big, if we intend to go further in CL. I want Celtic to bring in a big name who cam back it up with performance.

Go further in the Champions League though? In the last two seasons we have been eliminated by A.C. Milan and then Barcelona.

I don't want to be too pessimistic but we have no realistic chance of eliminating these teams. You say you want one or two players to help us progress in the CL. More realistically we would need 5 or 6 (if not more) £15 - £20 million pound players to progress to a level where we could compete with Milan or Barca.

Our only real chance of getting beyond the last 16 in the CL is if one of the top seeds has a poor group stage allowing one of the poorer pot two teams to win the group. Then we would have to get lucky and draw the pot two team that won their group in the last 16.

 

I agree that 31 goals for Mcdonald is a good return, but if we had a player who could actually read the game and wasn't greedy, maybe he would only score 20-25 but I can guarentee we would score more goals overall. For Mcdonalds 31 goals we could have had at least 50 if he would only learn how to pass the ball.
You can't honestly tell me you don't get frustrated watching him making great runs and taking people on only to put the ball wide when someone else is in a better position, or watching big jan winning header after header only for Mcdonald to be standing looking the other way.

 

Leone I agree we definetly need to get rid of the dead wood, Balde, Tommy G etc are taking up a massive chunk of wages every week, but even if they go I still dont think we can offer the silly wages some of the top players are looking for.
I would love to see some of the names getting mentioned in this thread (Bykstrov,Huntellar,Pavlyuchenko etc) at Parkhead. To see them in the Hoops would be amazing, but I dont think its the market we operate in.

If those 3 and Maloney come in, and along with Caddis that makes the perfect (according to Mr Mourinho, 23 man squad). The key is getting rid of thsoe I mentioned and bringing in real quality.

P.s. I have serious reservations about Brown and JFK so I would look to take in experienced backup on the cheap to replace them.

 

Every good player does that though not just mcdonald keep in mind its his first season at celtic a bigger step up from his days at motherwell, theres gonna be times when he does that what player hasent, he is learning all the time to.
