    That was for Claire.

The riots were over harassment of Nationalists, Colin Duffy and the other people that were wrongly arrested.

The "Rioting in Lurgan Today" thread in LL is virtually all kids even younger than me. The line that Z and someone else quoted from another forum that made clear the majority of people involved were "youths." I'm not talking RIRA which I'm well aware is a more organized/older group. By bandana I just meant general face covers.

The 80s comment was an allusion to when the problems were much more severe than they are now. When violence probably was warranted. But things have chanced since then.

Saying all that, I don't think that you should just sit twiddling your fingers and let the British walk over you politically. My point wasn't for you guys to not fight back, just to do it with a little more sense. Organize mass demonstrations, organize boycotts, take pages out of the civil rights movements of the African Americans in the US... realize the role of civil disobediance. None of this car burning * and making people think there are bombs all over the place. It's a disgrace. I think you've grossly misunderstood my view just because of my line about "bandana'd youths trying to look hard" and assumed that I side with the British in the unification of Ireland and all the politics that go along with it. There are just historically tried and tested ways of doing this that don't involve what's going on.

I'm surprised you had the "concentration" to get through it all, then. :56:And the attempt at making blocking/ignoring me sound like a threat is hilarious.

Sorry if I took you up wrong mate.

Well, from what i have seen the people that were rioting were of all ages. People who were angered over the British harassment, imprisonment of innocent people and resisting a colonial police force(RUC/PSNI) attack on their homes etc.

Thats the thing mate things havnt changed Ireland is still occupied. Life has improved for the Irish in the occupied 6 counties but the IRA campaign was never about reformism or civil rights, it about was about resisting foreign occupation. Its not a case of "Brits out" if people are poor, then "Brits in" if there are loads of jobs.

Peace doesnt work pal we have seen that in the past. One of the main reason the PIRA failed was because of its political leadership. Although politics are important and there are political groups the share their politics, but they arnt answerable to any political party and thats a strength not a weakness.

is it possible, that they are fighting to bring the brits back to ireland??
    quite ironic that

ok they havent left, but its great they are off our streets :celt_2:

i wouldnt say the rira all mainly made up off ex provos.certainly in belfast that isnt the case.they split into 3 sections recently.(past 18 months)o.n.h has been the most active faction.but its all low level.

mondays operation was jointly carried out by o.n.h and the cira.two orgainsations joining up for the day to create mayham.it was a poor attempt,if thats all they brought to the table.its time to go home.

Yes, thats one of their objectives.

They arnt on the streets but is Ireland not under British rule? If the Brits are back on the street it will make people aware they are occupied.

The RIRA, IRA and ONH all have ex Provos among their ranks.

Mondays operations was not carried out by the CIRA ! Any links?

The group that were blamed for what happened on Monday were CFAD(Concerned Families Against Drugs) which is complete bollox, just more
criminalisation.Once again trying to blacken the name of a progressive community organisation. Typical slander from these *
