I meant another team though, like one local team and the "X great European team" that they chose themselves eg. theres someone on here whos scottish I mind seeing who acts like a Man United fan and made a thread calliing Liverpool fans absolute scum etc as if he was a diehard from Manchester whod grown up despising them :50:

I dont even know the guys personal circumstances he might originally have come from there or his dad or someone was and hes always supported them and Celtic but i was embarassed reading the way he wrote the stuff.

For me, at least, gloryhunting is not taking the losses as hard as the wins. This is American sports, but I had a friend who came to school every day wearing a USC hat (one American football's best college teams). For reference, we were on the opposite coast from USC, about as far away as you could get. They lost the national championship game on a Monday night to the University of Texas; Tuesday morning he was in school with a Texas Longhorns hat on. That's gloryhunting, to me at least.

Ah right, no bother mate I just thought you meant a local team aswell :50:

As I said before I like to watch Barca play and I like to see them do well but I wouldn't be too bothered if they got beat.

The answer is yes and the reason the answer is yes is because so many people worldwide do. You can support two and many who say you can't usually ignore the fact that so many people actually do support more than one club.

There is one club that most of your time, money, attention and effort will go in to, but that doesn't mean you don't want your other team to win. You're still supporting them, even if it's not as much as your first team.

Those who say that means you're not supporting the second club are wrong, in my opinion.

I was raised on celtic, born into celtic I cant see past celtic, celtic is my life its who I am today. I also watch and respect st pauli and look out for them but I wouldnt say I support them I just like them doing good as a in respect in a celtic supporter in our connections with st pauli.

In the other hand, my wee brother is a season ticket holder at Celtic Park and was at St Jameses Park. seasons 03-05 he was season ticket holder at st jameses and from 07-11 he to current today he is a season ticket holder. He loves both clubs but said to me celtics number one due to family and our support nothings like it. He likes newcastle as he went down to newcastle with his football team and fell in love with them and said st jameses park is quality staduim etc. Anyway he says Celtic's first and Newcastle second. He has 12 celtic scarfs and 4 newcastle scarfs. He watches every newcastle game on TV and even attends newcastle games nearly every season. He supports Celtic and Newcastle to be fair but has more love for Celtic and always puts us first.

I dont know about my answer, but my point of view you cant support two teams, you are always going to have 1 team

There is a difference from "i like" or "i like to see ***** do well" rather than "i support celtic and......" so IMO no, you can only support one team.

why would you want to support anyone else anyways ??????

When I was younger I used to try and get to every Morton game possible and was a fan.

So yes of course you can support two teams.

I don't support Morton any more but always check for the score and hope they do well.

I support 20 teams just to make sure at least one of them wins every weekend.

On a serious note, I only love Celtic. There are 2 other teams I'd like to see do well, but at the end of the day can't be arsed if they win or not.

    Celtic & Scotland.

People can support 2 club teams if they want, it's their choice. But it's just Celtic for me.

I don't think you can really support another club with the same passion you do Celtic.

I follow a couple of clubs results and hope they do well but if they get beat it's not the end of the world like it is with the hoops.

It depends on what you deem 'support' to be and what your perception of that is.

I like other teams, I love watching Barca play and I respect their club ethos due to its similarity to Celtic. I willed Blackpool to stay up in the Premiership because I like their manager and how refreshing they are as a club at the highest level. There are a few others I'd like to see do well due to their connection with Celtic like Norwich.

Strip all that back though and there is only 1 club you can truelly support, in a global game I don't see how you could possibly support 2 teams when there is a distinct possibility both those teams could play each other and to me, to support your side is to want them to win at all costs.

I think most celtic supporters have a soft spot for other teams, mine being barca and liverpool, but like others have said, its not an emotional love as i have for the hoops, if barca and pool lose it doesnt bother me, i have been over for the el classico and down to the mersey derby with friends, and i wont lie, had a brilliant time at both, but they dont compare in atmosphere to ours during the game, but in the bars of barca before and after, sure beat anything over here

In my opinion, you cannot support two clubs. It takes enough time, effort and stress to support Celtic, I think I'd have a meltdown if I had to take twice the amount!

On a serious note though, everything we put into Celtic, be it money for tickets or merchandise, time spent on forums and reading about what's going on with the team, all these little minutes here and there are what makes up being a real fan, not just sitting and watching the game. As far as I'm concerned you simply cannot love two clubs equally - Celtic have 100% of my heart - anything less is unacceptable.

Look at it this way, pretty much everyone who's got another team has picked a 'big team', and as has been said already in the thread, it's glory hunting and nothing more. Barcelona are doing well so people are coming out of the woodwork with the classic gloryhunter line of 'I've always liked them' and coming out with some obscure link as to why they aren't one of the gloryhunters (Celtic have 'fans' like this too.). I'm 23, and I'd hazard a guess that most of this forum is of a similar age group, when I was growing up Manchester United were the dominant force in the UK, and as such I know a fair few Manchester United 'fans', and I would bet that everyone on this forum knows at least one too. If these people were ten or fifteen years older they would be Liverpool fans - it's gloryhunting and it's pathetic.

Everyone likes to watch certain teams due to particular players or style of play, and there is of course nothing wrong with that, but it is when people start to claim that they actually support these teams that it starts to really annoy me - is supporting Celtic not enough? It certainly is for me.

The way I look at it is this: if you claim to support Celtic and Manchester United, which a fair few on this forum do, then who were you supporting in the five or six times we've played them in the last ten years? If it is Celtic (which on a Celtic forum I'd like to assume it would be), then you are not a real Manchester United fan, stop kidding yourself. Same goes for Barcelona, Liverpool etc. You can only have one team.

Celtic first, Celtic last and Celtic overall.

Nah there is no one definition of support. For one person it is hoping they win while watching the score on livescore.com , for the other it is going to all home and away matches. And there is everything in between.
SPL receives almost no media attention in my country But I like it. I follow Celtic close by and enjoy watching Celtic games. And whatever you want to call me then is fine. Glory hunter or fake supporter or whatever I don't care I enjoy it and that's what counts for me.
There are not much people in holland interested in SPL so yeh if I were a glasgow raised celtic man id be happy with all international fans.

In my opinion, you can only support one club. One club and your country.
