Miles off what we need in that position.
His entire game now is to play 5 yard passes as quick as he can get rid of the ball, and that is mainly backwards.
Spends the whole game throwing his arms about, looking like he's directing play, but in reality he's doing anything but.
Sad to see from someone who has given so much, but he just looks done now, and we could be doing with so much better.

We needed at least two PROPER midfielders this window.

We brought in Nygren, a number 10 at best, who runs like yer granda and is weak as *.

    Peak Celtic.

Looking like his usual ability to bounce back has deserted him. Extremely worrying how bad he is at the minute.

Points and does nothing else. Slow and ponderous in possession.

I don't know how many times we need to watch that exact performance from the full midfield be it in Europe or tougher games domestically. We are screaming out for a proper holding mid but for years there's not been an appetite to fix it

The only forward passes he plays now is the odd time he's 25-30 yards out and * one over the top for a run in the box.

Other than that, you're spot on. Everything is about 5 yard passes, absolving himself of any responsibility. Stealing a living in that midfield recently.

Final straw for me from him today. Slow, ponderous and indecisive. We badly need an athletic 6 who moves it forward quicker.

In my view hes a still a good player but hes become Rodgers projection on the pitch. Which is slow, safe, rigid football. In a role that doesnt get the best out of him.

The whole team looks * to be honest and when that starts to happen you have to start worrying about more than just individual player performances.

We need a double pivot at the base of midfield now we don’t have Taylor inverting, otherwise he’s too easily isolated. Interestingly he created the most chances of any player on the pitch, with two.

Orchestrated everything that was wrong with our performance today, no positivity and constantly pointing/ playing backwards. Our options in the attacking areas weren't great but he's our captain he should be the positive one driving us forward

Absolutely * * again. Hiding behind players not wanting the ball. Second to every ball again. Then the one late on when he got caught on the ball, deary * me.

Was saying that to my dad on the phone just there, the midfield as is isn’t working.

Double pivot might be the answer and allow him a bit more freedom.

He needs help in there but at the same time has to do so much more.

We don't have a single player in our midfield who can tackle or win a header. We are weak, slow and ponderous. Any word you want to use.

It'll get exposed in Europe again this year.

Domestically, we should only need one holding midfielder. That goes without saying surely. He just isn’t the answer now. His legs look shot to pieces.

Hes probably the player that most illustrates the rot that has set into the side I think.

Hes been stuck in this role because we want to play out from the back methodically, and have centre halfs that are not especially good at doing that. I think hes been put in there to alleviate some of that and to get take the honus for receiving the ball and linking defence with attack.

Teams are alive to it now and hes just not a good enough player in that position to be able orchestrate full responsibility for that. The ball seldom moves forward with him anymore so hes kind of redundant. And out of possession he provides he limited value in terms of helping the defence or winning the ball back.

The entire midfield has needed an overhaul for a while.

Surely you’re not counting that fluffed shot he had and Tierney did an overhead kick as ‘creating’ a chance? Not sure where the other one has come from either
