  1. Lenny should call Naka and have him do an inspection of our set-piece takers. He knows the business, so he should pick the takers, and teach them a few tricks to improve delivery.

  2. Our back 3 worked great under MON. All it needs is a couple of good wing-backs. Admitedly, there aren't too many of these around any more, with teams playing with a back 4 most of the time now, there's not as much demand for such defense-minded wingers. That said, I would be delighted to revert to a back 3 if we could somehow find a new Agathe and Thompson.

Maloney, Fortune, Ledley, Brown played good, so did Sammy ( needs to pass more). Defense wasn't really tested ,but when I see Loovens or Mulgrew with the ball, I'm nervous. Also try Ki for set pieces and Rasmussen to finish them off.

  3. This we already have.:50: Chaminator.:notworthy Finding a new Thompson will be a bit harder.

  4. Naka's gone and will never return ,a part of Celtic's history now .

  5. Playing history, unfortunately, you're right. But a wee help to his former club, in a form of advice-why not? He is one of the best set-piece takers we've had, afterall.

  6. People seem to forget that we had to stop playing 3-5-2 because Rangers under McLeish kept getting the best of us playing 4-3-3 and dragging our defender everywhere. Things only changed when we switched to 4-4-2. Like PRD said it's pointless unless you know your playing against 2 strikers.

Definitely making of a good team there, IF we get Bellamy an Given on loan and manage to get a back up LB to go alongside the new Swedish CB then I'll be fairly confident for the rest of the season.

  7. When mcgeady played poor he still worked his * off. When paddy isn't on the ball he doesn't do anything at all. He needs to learn to track backand work hard if he is goin to be a first team regular. If he doesn't start doin that he will be a show horse that gets an occasional game against teams we are expected to hammer

  8. Nah we've got Thommo for that hs free kicks were quite special as well

  9. First half was rotten, didn't look like we could have done anything. But the second half was minted ad we should have scored alot more. But if it takes us 50-60 mi to get into a game every week I would fear the worst against better opposition. Got hte result which was the main thing, few good performances today as well. Hopefully we cna build on this, especially our 1st clean sheet in ages. All in all, pleased with the result

  10. Exactly and anyway what could Naka honestly teach they lads that Thommo couldnt? Every bit as good off a dead ball as Naka maybe even better. Thommo will sort it out, technique wise there werent many better than him :50:

  11. :56:

    You being serious mate?

Sure Thommo could strike the ball well, but he wasn't even in the same league as Nakamura.

  12. Wee Maloney our best player today, hopefully he will carry on this form and not get injured.

  13. your post is a good one jeannie,

imagine if we drew or got beat ,i can see the posts now saying a lot of negitivity about the team..

celtic must have been nervous today, the team needed a winning start witch may have added to the celtic holding back and getting themselves in trouble at times..as the game went on you could see the confidience rising

lennon dident change any personal at half time ,i was glad of that as youve got to be confident in your team choices..lennon had a word at half time he told them he wants more from them and they delivered

trust is a wonderfull thing,,* me paddy mc court stayed on up untill he scored and only taken off when injured,,when did paddy ever get a chance of a full 90 mins...any past manager would have took him off at half time cos he was *

celtic regained the controll and never looked back, i was excited today watching celtic ,i cant remember the last time i said or saw that

  14. You're playing three at the back, and your opponents are playing 4-5-1. You have three centre backs against one striker - that leaves you with at least one man marking no one, which leaves you light elsewhere on the park.

You're playing a back three against you're opponents 4-3-3. Your opponents have a single striker and two pacy wingers staying in the wide positions. Who marks the wingers? Do you centre backs go out and leave big gaping holes, or do they stay and give the wingers all the space in the world? Obviously they can't do either, so the wingbacks have to track back - this leaves your wing backs pinned back, meaning you now have five men at the back against three, meaning you're overloaded at the back - the exact same problem as above.

An example of why three-man defences struggle against three-man attacks | Zonal Marking

  15. played better 2nd half maloney but same old proplems cant take chances and im not keen on hooiveld slow and knocked off the ball easy in 2nd half,i would get another cb to play alongside the swede, forrest did well

  16. This game has always been a sore point for Celtic going up there but today after a hard 20-25mins they took control of it ,we struggled badly against teams like that last season but today looked different ,the players looked as if they wanted it more when last season ,,,well do we need to go there ,Good start from Celtic and im sure it will get better as the seasons moves on.

  17. that much is true, naka is in J-league

  18. This obviously is potentially what can happen with a 3,5,2 there are negative and counter actions to every type of formation. But MON used these tactics for the majority of the time he was here and had our most succesful spell for years at home and in europe. The positives of a 3,5,2 are if you are an offending team looking to win games then your wing backs drop back if needed.

  19. ahah , isnt he at espanyol ?:97:

nah but thommo was magic from deadball situation, probably not as good as naka , naka did alot of them under pressure.. anwyay thommo could easily teach them just as good as naka,i mean the man can't even speak english ahah
