    Inverness 0 Celtic 1.
Not a helluva convincing win and it is three points away from home.
McCourts goal was superb only he could have scored that goal, yet he like a lot of the team were not performing that well.
Maloney looked like he was going to be real effective yet he missed glaring chances to score.
Samaras I would have taken him off soon after the second half, what an absolute fiddle farter he is involved in many ways yet invariably its to the negative.
Young Forrest missed a sitter and he also had a couple of great shots that on another day would be in the net.
Thought Jaurez should have been brought on earlier.
Good to see the Celtic Sieve held up sure makes for a change.
I am happy with the win, but not with the overall performance.

the first half hour was always gona be tough caley were well up for the fight . and we never really got going but after that it was one way traffic .the back four and goalkeeper were solid enough. cha was quality going forward only one lapse of concentration nearly allowed them to score and hoojifeld fell sleep once allowing rooney space to have a shot that zaluska saved. mugrew had his best game for us so far wasnt easy for him in the first 25 mins as he was isolated alot having to deal with that fast winger but he stuck to his task and after that had a good game. thought loovens was steady also. brown and ledley were excellent brown pressing and winning the ball and ledley keeping possession of the ball. maloney was brilliant the way he found space, brought other people into play, and really should have scored a few. mccorts goal was quality what a goal but didnt do anything else. really needs to offer the team more defensively to be a fixture in the team but his ability is frightening at times. fortune was good in the second half could have found his best position speed, power just needs to make better choices when to pass, shoot etc. samaras was good at times but mostly it was the same samaras as always frustrating as * to watch hope we sell him asap. forrest is a player their is no doubt about it. but he is still young and will need time to develop but over all im very happy. for all the doom and gloom merchants in the media get it right * up you. its early days but when was the last time we went to inverness and dominated like we did and made as many chances as we did . probably never. great start and to think kayal and juarez never played hopefully we will strengthen further over the next week and be even better.

How refreshing to see us ditch the rigid 4-4-2, some of the link up play and forward running in 2nd half was a joy to watch, still lots of room for improvement though, defence got murdered in first half an hour and we wasted some great chances, however, lots of promise for the new season ahead, clean sheet, a victory and £10m still to spend

Hooper would have scored a few if he was playing, fortune and samaras and maloney play to wide.

I remember at the start of season 08/09 Strachan tried Samaras and Maloney together in quite a similar role with the same result - * brilliant interchanges and intelligence. Really gets the best out both of them.

I think injury plus the return of other players ruined that but I always thought it was brilliant to watch.

Against Inverness today we again saw this collaboration but now including McCourt and Fortune, the latter in particular playing particularly well. His unselfishness, range of passing and intelligent use of the ball was really good to watch.

Huge amount of positives and the only negative being the usual lack of left-back and shaky keeper moments.

The only thing I'm wondering now is, GK and LB aside, how does anyone else break into that side? It would be a bit of a travesty if Hooper or Juarez were shoe-horned in because that current 9 players seemed to have a good mix of solidarity and attacking flair that should be able to break down any SPL defence.

If I was to be brutally picky then I'd still rather Juarez and Ki in the middle instead of Brown and Ledley, but I can't complain with the performances today. Just feel we'd get more from Ledley if he didn't have to worry so much about Mulgrew.

Was also great to see a 4-4-1-1 / 4-2-3-1 which I've been harping on about for the past 2 months.

Yes, Hooper or Rasmussen can be our direct player/goalscorer

Fortune was playing wide and done his job very well. I didn't catch the line up so not sure if Daryl Murphy was on the bench or not but I thought if he was, Lennon should have brought Murphy on for McCourt, played Murphy up front instead of Samaras and moved Sammy out wide to where McCourt was playing. After all, Samaras was rarely in the box and was constantly hugging the touchline.
