this is another one of the poll threads where in the posts you would think one view was majority but in the vote its the other way round. That often happens. Interesting.

i personally hate caldwell bashing and to be honest think some of u are talking total *.
FACTS: McManus is regarded as Scotland's best Centre-back and rightly so - he is confident and good at his job
Caldwell is Scotland's reserve centre-back and is widely recognised by many as Weir's replacement. sadly he is out of his depth at centre-back but with no other full-backs we have no choice, we were just unlucky in this department. I think he and McManus were a good partnership at CB and all through pre-season everybody recognised the McManus/Caldwell partnership as the best in Scotland. look at Man U, Wes Brown used to be shocking at Right-back but Ferguson has said Neville now faces stiff competition because of his new knowledge of the position.
Pressley has vast experience which is what everybody wants, looks sharp and was our best player on wednesday when he came on.
Kennedy IS A TRADITIONAL NO-NONSENSE DEFENDER AND ALTHOUGH I DONT THINK HE IS cl class i think he is better than all the other defenders in the SPL and he is also destined for SCotland glory. it looks as if these four are celtic's international future at CB along with Berra.
O'Dea is young and very promising
    Cuthbert is untested.
    Balde doesnt get a chance.
world-class? these CBs are better than half the centre-backs in Europe.

and I thought I was the TC resident fighter of lost causes:icon_mrgreen:. I think they are all decent at SPL level or likely good prospects for that level. All have strengths and weaknesses but none are top class. I think the most suspect this season by far has been JFK and that hurts to say because he was by once far the best prospect. I think WGS has gambled this season on at least two of the young CBs Mick, Gary and JFK really coming good and saving us millions but maybe none are going to be 100% up to CL. You cant blame WGS for trying them out because they are on paper a great collection of young Scottish (two home-grown) CBs but you are not given much time to come good at CP. I agree its a pity the Caldwell-Mick partnership has to be broken up because it looked much better than Caldwell-JFK. I think if we had a Doumbe-Gary/Elvis-Mick-Naylor defence on most weeks we would be very solid at the back. For me its Mick and either Elvis or Gary until January and we will see then.

I'd love to see Balde and O'Dea played as CB's for the Scottish Cup tie to see how they got on.

Being saying it since months big bobo should at least be given a chance.Bobo cannot be any worse than what we have seen to date, there is a hidden agenda here. And wait and see, like Kenny Miller he will be sold come January, and we might be making a big mistake.Granted he has not played first team fball since almost one year, but one thing for sure, he at least will boot and header the thing to buggery out the park,we are losing to many silly stupid goals, that we may live to forget.Lets get the real story behind Bobos dismissal from first team football,as true supporters I feel we have a right to know? And most true supporters would have him in the first team if he was fit and ready.

I get really angry when I read threads like this. It's almost like a cancer eating away at people. I must have a player to hate, I must have a player to hate.
Whatever happened to supporting the team. It's time for Celtic supporters to realise that they don't pick the team, the manager does and the manager will stand or fall by his decisions.
In the past it was maybe one player who got it, now it's an epidemic. Caldwell, Sno, JVoH, Jarosik, Pressley. You go to Celtic Park and fans are almost willing players to make a mistake just so they can say I told you so.
Now remind me again, how many teams are above us in the league? Our team is so bad that they've scored more than anyone and let in fewer than anyone. We've also had the longest injury list in living memory. But hey, I'm just an * who likes supporting Celtic.

Johnbhoy, although it's a good post you make mate, it's only people debating who they would prefer playing, and who they don't rate etc. No harm in that imo.

I take your point but if we didn't complain then we wouldn't be on this forum.

People are always going to be more likely to log in to have a moan than wax lyrical about a player.

We've got all these thoughts and frustrations about certain players, so maybe it's better to air them on here than have a go at them during games.

I agree entirely but the problem is that they are being aired at games. At one point on Wednesday night Caldwell lost the ball and the collective moan from the crowd was very audible. It does'nt happen when say Big Mick loses the ball. It's a worrying trend.

The very point I've been trying to make on here for weeks. Blinkers are being sold with scarves outside.

in the past ive slated caldwell and imo rightfully so,but today i thought he had a good game.
fair doo's he gave away a p.k but i dont really blame him for loosing the p.k,i blame jiri for playing the wrong pass ,mcgeady was wide open on the right.
then in the other instance i blame skippy for giving it away so easily,he should have done better.
    thats my honest unbiased opinion.

True. I think the support needs a whipping boy. In the past we had Agathe, even Thompson and Lennon. Last season it was Aiden.

The player in question just needs to have a thick skin and prove their worth.

I'm not even sure it's a case of a player in question. It seems to be the opposite. It's more a case of certain players not being in question just now. Every player bar McManus, McDonald and McGeady, and maybe Hartley at a push, seems to be a whipping boy.
