Sky Sports News are alleging that Caldwell was sold against Mowbrays wishes.
Tbh, I always thought that was the case, IMO the board didn't think he was worth the wages he was requesting, therefore a stalemate ensured that he would leave, whether Mowbray wanted to keep him or not.
TM seemed to indicate as much in an interview with SSN
Anyone surprised?

mowbray must have been the only * inside celtic park who wanted him to stay then...as the fans wanted shot of him. caldwells mouth was writing cheques his talent couldnt cash. we're well shot.
-
He's full of *, he was on ssn yestarday saying he didnt feel wanted by TM, now he's saying the opposite.

Yeah I can see part of it though. He wasn't going to get the new contract he wanted and so TM had no power to keep him since the board wanted a fee for him

Think the papers are trying to stir it. TM was saying he rates heid but couldn't agree terms after a long-winded contract dispute and the board had to cash in and that there is no rift between the board and himself.
Wouldn't look too much into this drivel. -
-
Why would he give him the captains arm band if he wasn't wanted? He's also said in interviews he knows how good/composed he is from his time at Birmingham. It makes sense if he wanted more money and the board don't want to give it him, they got rid.
Too bad, i liked him as a player, set up a * load of goals for us. Too bad he never really had a competent partner next to him at CB. -
Like I said, you just read the headline, and a few comments from the author/sub-editor.
Nothing below is a direct quote from the mouth of Caldwell, try reading what is actually said rather than some journo's twisted mis-interpretation of it.

Who cares?
-
What has he said that's made you unhappy?
From what I read he says he really enjoyed his three and a half years here, wants to thank everyone involved at the club, and that his departure was simply down to not being able to negotiate a new deal, and so he moved on.
Does speaking highly of the club you've just left count as "shouting your mouth off"?

yeh he did say that but then he said he thought he was a twenty grand contract for what he acheived at the club no doubt he deserved a better contract but what he was asking was ridiculous considering the * season he had. like a said he never took responsibilty for his poor form. say what ya like bout mcmanus least he didnt * and moan about a contract he decided to take more training sessions
-
He just denyed it was on Sky sports?
-
money was his * all along, he even bit the hand that fed him with strachan then said its the premiership football that decided it what are wigan ever going to win and paying that * £25,000 so its money, and as he played with Celtic giving away penalty's and Ogs you would never have given that guy a red neck even if you was to use a blow torch, the sooner they find him out the better hope strachan dingeys him for good
