Why do Hamburg love the huns? I’ve heard about Celtic not being overly fond of Hamburg before, but thought it was just empty talk the stuff of myth. What’s the backstory here? Excuse my ignorance. Is it anything to do with a certain Royal Family?

Leipzig cruising against Mainz right now without some key players (i.e. Sabitzer). Wonder if they will continue to impress domestically and on the big European stage. Be interesting to see if them and Dortmund can challenge Bayern this season (given Bayern’s formidable current form, it looks unlikely).

 

Truth be known other than the huns themselves and a certain section of the Hamburg Ultras it’s pretty understated and the vast majority barely even know there’s a link, I’ve been there a few times and advertised my allegiance and nobody even mentioned Sevco in the many discussions I’ve had with their fans, didn’t even see any of those horrible half and half scarves outside which I thought would be inevitable, they once infamously had the No Surrender banner Tifo when they played us a few years back but my experience is that their link is nothing like the one that exists between Celtic and St Pauli which is a thing all St Pauli fans are aware of.

 

They are also a good lesson in that the best manager for your club is not always the biggest and most famous name, they were shaking badly when this guy came in and ever since they’ve been a train at full speed just ripping through everyone at will domestically and in Europe, it’s been a phenomenal story since the day he took over and it’s certainly going to continue in that vein in my opinion.

As of stuff behind the scenes weren’t bad enough at Schalke their prized asset that they’re trying to sell for big money will be getting a lengthy ban for spitting in another player.

Didn't realise both Bayern and Dortmund got pumped at weekend, was oot the game for a few days.
