I wouldn't mind seeing him back, he has had a cracker of a season and did quite well for us.

I think it would be as good as if not better than getting niemi
-
You are forgetting why Broto left in the first place. He was to greedy and O'Neil believed that he was bad for squad morale.

im in two minds im not sure maybe i think niemi is more consistant tho and would do better for us when it came to big game situations
Mon the Hoops! -
i'd definately take broto back! he was gonna be o'neills first choice keeper the following season cos he was in at rugby park the weekend after seville. was it not a similar situation with his contract to jackie macs? if we get him for free then it solves 2 problems. we get a keeper and the board might actually release the money for a signing!!!!

I would take him back too. Had a few quality games for us, the huns one sticks out in my mind.

The main reason Broto left was because MON was not in a position to offer him a decent contract as he already had Rab and Hedman on long term deals, both were on good money, especially Hedman. I would have picked Broto over these 2 anyday, he was outstanding in his short spell for us, now that he's a free agent it makes even more sense, plus he knows what playing for Celtic means. Perhaps nobody has signed Niemi because there are doubts after his knee operation last season. If we can get Broto for nothing, that is a good option, we need 8-10 players for the squad, so the more we can pick up cheap or for nothing leaves more money for 1 or 2 big signings.

yeh broto was amense and i would like to see him back although is he gd enuff for CL as hes neva had European experince really? To be honest I would prefer Niemi as i fink hes a cracking keeper although Broto would be a strong cheaper option if the board aren't willing to spend as usual!

broto was great for us i was suprised when he was let go last time and by the sound of it he wants to come back so he might not be pushin for big wages.
With him and Davy i dont think we will have a problim between the sticks next season and about him playin in the CL, he was playin in spain against qualty players and he was the 3rd rated keeper behind arguably two of the best in the world that says it all.
wat age is he tho?Last edited by a moderator: Jun 16, 2005 -

I think Broto would be a good choice for GS and for Celtic but a lot would be dependant on how much he is wanting per week, I was always impressed by his performances for us and was * raging when Celtic let him go due to him wanting more money which I believe wasn't even all that much either and besides he was holding down a first team place and doing a cracking job of it at that. What the * was Hedman getting at this point for sitting on a bench ? I don't think his wage demands would be extortionate as he most probably knows from previous experience that the club would not tolerate it, at the very least GS should look into him as a possible option.
