Cheers man, thanks for these kind words. But I will agree with you on the O'Dea thing it has left us a bit short at the back, unless in Mowbray's mind the boy Thompson from Stockport might be good enough to cover.

To clarify also exactly why these fans in the opening threads are morons, we will be spending nearly £10m by the end of this season, maybe even more. Sure we've lost Donati but Lawwell and Mowbray turned a player of NO VALUE into a £1.75million deal.

How much did Rangers spend? How many first-teamish players did they lose?

FINALLY it looks like we have replaced the left-back. FINALLY it looks like we have a excellent replacement for Lennon - a job hartley could never do. We have also continued our policy of bringing in top class younger players, while sending our own prospects out on loan to get genuine action.

I cannot believe the attitude of some people, including the guy on this thread going on about fannys...

at the end of the day we still strengthened our squad far more than rangers did who weakened their squad. i would have liked to have seen a quality centre half signed but oh well i still think we will win the league.:celt_2:

We ALL hoped for a big signing today, but if we are all honest, deep down...we knew it was never going to happen. It's frustrating, we are a huge club who can no longer compete in the transfer market for players of great quality.....That is the reality. The only thing that puts a smile on my face is thinking of the knuckle-draggers over at Ipox.....One signing in a year....a loan signing at that...and these * won the league......We aren't big spenders but at least we aren't in the same state as that lot. I could be a lot happier with the signing we have made this season.....but i`m not ready to top myself....I'm looking forward to the season with optimism.....My glass is half full. :icon_mrgreen:

I think that when we fail to qualify for the Champions League then yes £6million is pretty much as good as it gets for us. If we make the Champions League next year then maybe the boat can be pushed out a bit further than 6 but not much further.

I don't have exact figures to hand but we have definitely spent a lot more than £9million in the last 3/4 years. We've just spent 6 in the last few weeks! Debt really DOES make a difference when you're being financially strangled by the league you are playing in. You only have to look across the Clyde to see how much of a problem having debt can be. Clubs in the Premiership can carry high debt levels but that's because of the TV money they have access to. We do not have that luxury. And even the Premiership money bubble will burst one of these days and a lot of the clubs in the Premiership will be badly damaged when it does.

Sometimes these days supporting Celtic feels like doing a class in economics. It can all get a bit depressing. It is after all football we love and not balance sheets. But the fact is we just don't have the money to fulfill the ambitions and desires that a lot of Celtic fans, myself included, have.
