Don't give a * how he treats the media.

Gain some momentum with a few wins, and that'll shut them up. If he can't, then he'll be inviting the questions.

"Inappropriate" is one of those passive aggressive words like "problematic". When I use it, for example, it's usually because I want to say something is wrong in a way that is very difficult for the other person to push back on, because it is so categorical and yet so vague. It covers everything from patronising and condescending (which IMHO his comment was) to sexist (which IMO is impossible to judge) and even abusive (which IMO it wasn't).

More specific words are much more helpful, because then you can assess whether each one is warranted.

As for saying it to someone in the workplace, they have a right to say, "Don't call me that, you smarmy, condescending p***." They don't have a right to tell you what you mean by it.

It is inappropriate in any modern, corporate setting I know of.

Not sure there’s any need for an essay about it.

I'm not sure that I'd look to the corporate world for guidance on behaviour to put it mildly, although it's powerful enough to impose it's choice of rules in the workplace. It's this very attitude that I dislike about it. It's the pretense at an absolute moral standard when it's just imposing a certain view with a big stick, really.

In all honesty, I don't think that sort of phrase is tolerated in many workplaces, and hasn't been for quite a long time. The reason being women generally find it offensive and demeaning.

Still less worried about that and more worried about how bad we've been. Hopefully we can take how we played in the second half into the next game.

Spot on. Just won a crucial game of football where at half time the title was all but over, showing a lot of determination and bottle, and playing the best we’ve played in a long time, yet you have roasters in here with their faux outrage over a nothing comment really when taken into context.

No, though I think you why it's not the same

Regardless, if he said "good boy" to a male journalist it would be very condescending

Tbh it just feels like another David Brent moment more than anything malicious, like he was trying to handle media like Ange does and it just came across as weird

The more I re-listen to this the more I admire Brendan for doing it.

Mind what Jim McLean done to a BBC reporter? * attacked him. Punched him. Got Sued. Had to resign from his post.

And it was not as big deal as this.........apparantly

You admire him for losing his cool and resorting to sexist patronising comments during a simple interview?

What did he do other than embarrass himself?

You are coming across very badly on this thread.

Gets a great result that potentially galvanises the team into the final run of the season. Can see why the media and people will want to focus on what he's said more. Gotta keep the negative celtic story going. Only ange can be condescending to the media, brendans not allowed his pop mate.
