May 20th 2016 5pm I was at KFC Orions way when he was announced

February 26th 2019 8:37am I was at work when he left.

8:38am today I realised he had strung me along for the time in-between.

When I am older I will always remember the invincible treble and the double treble as part of our history but when someone say the name Brendan Rodgers I will associate it with this day more than anything.

Brendan you * the people who idolised you.

Goodnight all what a * day!

Rodgers is a football snob imo he is the type of guy who would look down his nose at the club for a section of the supports political leanings bit like some folk on the board and when you get two people who are the same they tend to clash just as what happened with him and lawwell.

Thank * everybody is seeing him for what he is. Was fully expecting 99% of fans to be absolutely heartbroken and depressed and blaming everyone but him.

The players must be * raging if this is how the fans feel.

Packie Bonner believes that the timing of Brendan Rodgers departure from Celtic will sour his place in the affections of the club's support.

Rodgers was today confirmed as the new Leicester City manager and will be replaced until the end of the season by former Celtic boss Neil Lennon, who will have Damien Duff as first-team coach.

The Antrim man leaves Celtic eight points clear of Rangers and still on course for a third consecutive treble but Bonner believes losing their manager mid-season could destabilise the club.

"The timing of it is the big issue, leaving Celtic right in the middle of a league season is a big challenge for them," former Republic of Ireland keeper Bonner told RTÉ Sport.

"He's won the league twice, he was going for his third treble. I think if he had stayed until the end of the season and won another treble, everyone would say "well done, you're moving on because of (lack of) money and so forth".

"This is a crucial season for Celtic. It could be eight in a row, the challenge of Rangers with Steven Gerrard is evident.

"How will the players respond to a new manager? Will the new manager change the style of play mid-season?"

Rodgers explained his decision by saying "we were on a journey of great success over these last years, but, when the opportunity came to talk to Leicester and I was able to analyse it, it allowed me to think that I'd probably achieved and taken the club maybe at Celtic as far as I could at this moment."

Reading between the lines, Bonner believes that the Celtic board's failure to back Rodgers with the funds to compete in Europe was pivotal to the Northern Irishman going back to the Premier League, where he last managed Liverpool.

"Last summer, when they had the opportunity to bring in maybe two or three quality players, the relationship between himself, Peter Lawwell and the board was fractured," said Bonner.

"I think that relationship, ultimately, is the reason why Brendan Rodgers walked away."

Bonner can see the attractiveness of the Leicester job to Rodgers but doubts whether he can achieve comparable success with the Foxes.

"I think we've got be realistic and say that the Premier League, with the money that's involved and the ability to buy in the top players, that's the big attraction for Brendan," said Bonner.

"Can they do better than Celtic in Europe? Well they haven't. Can they win as many trophies as Celtic? No they can't.

"Celtic is a huge club worldwide, with a fantastic fan base.

"A number of years ago, Leicester probably would have been on a lower level than Celtic but now, after winning that league a couple of years ago, and the history they are building up, you could say they are on a par.

"But Celtic fans will say that Celtic is the club and he's let them down."
