I'm living in Lala land but we need to go out and offer ibrahimovic a huge deal we could afford to pay him £6 million for a year.

I'll agree because I said the same thing Ronny's first year, but that's a bit of a bold statement from Sutton given his constant criticism of Ronny for everything during his first year.

    Complete bell end.

One of many contradictions he's made. But it's ok 'he's telling it like it is' so he's sound.

If Rodgers turns out to be as useless as Ronny then I have no doubt Sutton will call him on it. I don't think he will be though.

    Interesting.

    This in the papers?

The word easy and champions league qualifiers never go together, lets be honest.

He still has only around 8 weeks to get the squad gutted, his style somewhat implemented and players in that he needs.

First round should be simple enough aye but after that it can go either way. Regardless of Rodgers' name or where he has managed before. He still is relatively inexperienced in Europe, especially given the massive pressure on us to qualify, it's something he won't really have experienced after immediately taking a job.

I'll wait and see who he brings in and how he sets us up before saying any more.

players seem to be happy with the news

CAPTAIN Scott Brown says he and his Celtic team-mates are delighted that someone of Brendan Rodgers’ stature is taking over as the club’s new manager.
The Hoops faithful greeted the news of the Irishman’s appointment late on Friday afternoon with huge excitement, and the skipper revealed there were similar sentiments among the Celtic squad once they discovered the former Liverpool and Swansea boss was heading to Paradise.
Speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, Brown said: “I was down in London when I heard and it’s great news. The lads are in a group chat and we speak quite a lot and we are all delighted with Brendan coming in. It will be a fresh start for everyone and everyone will have to prove their worth.
“It’s definitely exciting. The players he will attract himself will be huge and everyone seemed to love his coaching at Liverpool and Swansea so it will be great for us to learn off him as well.
“He has done really well with his previous clubs, almost winning the league at Liverpool, and he has Champions League experience. Hopefully he comes here and we can continue to win leagues and cups and get into the Champions League.
“People say we can’t afford the top players now but we have just gone and got a top manager. He knows about the club which will help as he will understand what coming to a huge club with a big reputation is all about.”
Although Brown has only crossed paths with the new Celtic manager once – in a friendly with Swansea five years ago – he is a long-timer admirer of Brendan Rodgers’ philosophy of attacking, attractive football.
And the midfielder believes that the 43-year-old possesses the necessary experience to deliver further success to the Scottish champions who will be targeting six-in-a-row in the coming campaign.
“I did come across him at Swansea when we played down there in a friendly and they were flying at the time,” said Brown. “They played attacking, non-stop football which was good to watch and I’m sure the Swansea and Liverpool fans felt that as well, and here’s hoping our fans will feel like that.
“One of the reasons I came to Celtic was the fact there was a huge manager in charge who had done well down in England in Gordon Strachan, and now we have another huge manager who had done well down south, and he will bring that enthusiasm and experience along with his style of play.
“Everyone knows that Celtic is a high-pressure job and all the other things comes with it, but he will know what that's all about, having worked in a similar situation in Liverpool with that local rivalry with Everton, so that will be important for him.”
In the midst of his close- season break, Brown hasn’t yet spoken to Brendan Rodgers but he’s relishing returning from close-season and helping the new regime hit the ground running once he has recovered from injury.
“I haven’t had a chance to speak to him yet but I’m sure we will chat soon, though he will be a busy man over the next few days,” said the captain.
“I will just need to see how the injury goes and how I’m feeling before I come back in. I don’t want to come back too early and start off with an injury, so I will make sure I’m 100 per cent.”
Celtic supporters have already demonstrated their enthusiasm at the arrival of Brendan Rodgers by flocking to buy season tickets over the weekend, and Brown insists their backing will be vital as the Bhoys aim to negotiate the early-season UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
“The fans will definitely get behind him and that has been shown by the amount of supporters buying season tickets already,” said Brown.
“It will be good for them to see the gaffer’s style of play and how we adapt to that in the coming months. The Champions League qualifiers are going to be huge for us and if they get behind us like they have got behind the manager so far then it will be an unbelievable boost.”
