Well maybe the ones that are armed and would go to war with their government in order to have the right to remain armed shouldn't have a gun in the first place?
This is where you guys over there need to choose between your right to bear arms and the rights of innocent victims being snubbed out because guns are too readily available in your society. If it was a choice between me having a gun tucked away in case of the need to protect myself or the life of just one innocent victim I know what I would choose.
It's just a pity that a lot of Americans choose the other way :38:

md1981, the problem is if you read into the actual statistics, first of all, mass shootings are actually down 45% since the 1980s. The overwhelming majority of gun crime is not caused by assault rifles. Assault rifles are actually used in less than 1% of gun crime in this country. It is caused by small arms, particularly handguns, which are bought and sold in the black markets of criminal enterprises. The change in gun laws to reduce deaths need to be that law enforcement needs to be given more teeth to investigate and break down the black market of illegal gun sales. And stiffer penalties need to be put in place for the commission of a firearm in a crime. There should be a mandatory minimum sentence of at least 25 years, without chance of parole. It should be made a summary offence with a direct penalty. No plea deals allowed. The problem with gun crime in this country is with gang bangers, not law abiding citizens. These are young criminals in our cities who have been taken in by the "gangsta" culture on TV and in music. Its an unfortunate problem but the immediate remedy is to go after them first.

Target shooting and wild boar hunting. They cost about $1400 and up or 866 GBP

Fair enough mate. As I said, you never really get to hear a coherent argument for/against having guns. It's always "It's my right" or "ban them". Just interested in hearing someone's opinions that isn't via the media :50:

    * sleeping. If I had an AR-15, I'd be standing at my window in my pants shouting Scarface quotes and "Mon then" at passerbys. (Possibly highlights why there are tight gun control laws in the UK)

By having such lax gun laws it actually gives everyone the inventive to own a gun. It's pretty much the logical choice to own one. I'm not into american politics but I would guess that the the companies who make money money by selling guns/ammunition are the biggest financial backers of such laws (or lack of).

The second amendment :smiley-laughing002: it makes as much sense as basing your laws on religious doctrine.

Almost a dollar per round unless you buy them bulk.

The prices are inflated because the federal government is buying up all of the popular rounds of ammunition to cut down on availability. The Department of Homeland Security is stocking up in case of unrest / civil war. So there is a huge supply/demand problem right now in America. Usually you go into a gun store and all of the Ammo is bought up by 9 AM. It didn't used to be like that. Stores used to have huge stock for you to choose from.
