It would make sense to have a US shooting superthread.

Looks like an airsoft gun to me. Have a full metal airsoft ak myself and often when relatives and the like come into the house, without knowing that i play, they see it and think i've joined the Ira.
They tend to be very good replicas. How could anyone be stupid enough to walk around, especially in america, with one is crazy.

'It wasn't clear whether the teenager pointed the replica assault rifle at the deputies or made any type of threatening gesture'

But they continued to murder him.

.......After being repeatedly asked to put the weapon down.

Doesn't matter if he did threaten the police with it - he (in their minds) had a dangerous weapon and he was given fair warning.
What should they do in your opinion? Pack up and go home after he ignores them?

I'd think that was a real gun....and I agree he doesn't look 13...shame another person has lost their life to guns in the states.....as long as they have the right to bear arms it's going to continue unfortunately.

    Seriously?

I think the least law enforcement officers should be doing if they think someone has a dangerous weapon is containing the situation, staying in cover, calling in back up and most important of all waiting until shots are fired from the person.

Police should be firing their weapons as a last resort yet this is just another story of trigger happy police in America.

What else are they supposed to do? Really...

Have a look at the guy who tried to storm buck hoose for how to deal with a perceived danger.

So by your logic, The police should only fire after the person holding the weapon has fired off a few rounds first..

Aye why no give them a chance to kill you first. Excellent.

Police should be well trained in these situations, they keep their distance, call in back up (maybe a sniper or two) and diffuse the situation.

    It's not really rocket science.

If he has the gun trained on a member of the public then that is a different situation but that doesn't seem to be the case here now does it?

Bit of a difference between a kitchen knife and an AK 47. If he had got in there with a gun he'd be dead and you well know it.

Right because having war (because that is exactly what would happen if the government ever tried to take our guns) over the 2nd amendment makes so much sense. There would be a civil war in America. And not just with a few fringe militias either, it would be entire states and their national guard units going head to head with the federal government, as states would break away from the Union, as they did in the Civil war in the 1800's. Do you have any idea how much death and carnage would ensue then?

Trusting the largest military and police state in the world with sole access to firearms makes so much sense. Thats why Thomas Jefferson and James Madison put the 2nd amendment into to the constitution. To deter tyranny.

I agree that this was a suicide. Read about "suicide by cop". There is a woman who lived close to me who did the same thing. Except she did it with knives, threatening people at a costco. Cops tazed her first and then shot her. Cops here are completely militarised and they are trained to kill first and ask questions later. That's why in a lot of jurisdictions here they will only hire the most shell-shocked Iraq and Afghanistan veterans to join the police force. Nothing surprises me.

Point me to where I said they should revoke that ammendment please because I'm pretty sure I didn't say that or suggest that.....I made a comment saying that while Americans have that right that it will continue to happen....which is true.....I never called for the gun laws to be changed.

Fair enough, Marie, I was just saying that even if that "right" were ever revoked, there would be even more bloodshed. Also there are over 260 million firearms in the United States in the hands of civilians. You do realise that the criminals, especially would never turn in their guns? So all of the gangbanger killings would continue, which is over 90% of the gun violence problem in this country. Fair play to you though for not telling Americans what to do with their gun laws, or any of their laws. You always seemed like at least a genuinely sensible person to me.
