I remember that Tannadice game, but I remember watchin the way Celtic were linin up for those corners. They had obviously been "practicin" them in trainin, and it looked like Zaluska was told to stay away from interferin with them!! Our defence at that time was shockin though. Classic Mowbray! Lol!

Yes it is indeed. A goaly has to be VERY vocal to communicate with his back line.

 

Correct. I'm a keeper coach, and thats one of the things we try and drill into the keepers. YELL at everyone to do as you want them to do!!!

 

More so if he comes off his line to collect...which he rarely does imo

 

a still think theres something about boruc that zaluska doesn't have....i won't call it presence then but there is something.

is it only me that's go a tear in there eyes about the big man leaveing he was a ledgend amunst us all and he wont be able to get to say goodbye to us

 

Be it an ability or necessity, it is still something that a goalkeeper must possess...the confidence to direct his defenders. In many television interviews, defenders that played with Schmiecel at Man Utd(bruce, Pallister etc.) Said they were scared into defending for their lives because they knew if they made a mistake then The Great Dane would be out yelling at them like a madman.

 

The big man looks like he wants to move. The only tear in his eye is likely to be of joy looking at his new wage packet. No room for sentiment in these times. We need to move on a secure the SPL title.

 

Absolutely. He is no shcmichel though! He, like Artur was a top class shot stopper. A master at coming out and closing down angles.

 

Maybe the arrogance has played a part in a lot of his mistakes the last 2 seasons? He began to believe his own hype and then his performances dwindled.

Ruddy, McGregor & Bell were all far better than Boruc last season.

 

Every player goes through a spell like that though. I agree he hasnt been as good. Alot of personal issues as well.

 

Dont get me wrong, i'm not suggesting that he is as good as Schmeichel:icon_mrgreen:, but Zaluska is a good keeper in his own right, good shot-stopper and IMO more aerially commanding than Boruc and more of a commanding presence in the defence(as of my above suggestion..vocally).

 

If there's one player on the park who can see everything that goes on thats the keeper ,positional sense for his own players on where to go ,spot runners ,his own game on where and when to take up his own position and a lot more all comes into a keepers game ,so yeah anyone can shout and direct but what makes some keepers better than others is how they communicate with his own players ,We seen Boruc numerous times having a go at his own players ,namely the incident with Naylor and shouting matches with others ,so its a major part of a Goalies game to see and understand * is going on out there.

 

I agree. But to shout and direct and organise properly??? I think Zaluska will excell this year. He has the same technical ability as Boruc, if not slightly better,he doesn't carry the same baggage as Boruc, which will help him mentally, and he is actually preferred by a lot of people within Celtic to Boruc.

I could see him having another poor season coming up TBH. Things might change for him in Italy, but there was a 2 month spell in January & February where any half-decent shot at Artur resulted in a goal.
