Taken a wee break recently from reading due to burnout but picked this up last week and blitzed it - some laugh! nice that its set in North Lanarkshire aswell which is a change of scenery for once. Class book, better than i thought it would be and not fully what i expected either.

Loved this book, read it twice in about a month.Graeme Armstrong has absolutely nailed that scene and era. There’s even talk of a movie.

I will have to re-buy it as left it at my ex’s house.

The Amateurs - John Niven. Similar to Happy Gilmour & was funny at times. Got a couple more of his to give a listen.

Just finished. Brilliant read, have really enjoyed the two books by Higgins I’ve read so far. Will definitely read more.

I haven't read George Higgins but really like Ken Bruen's noir crime series with his Jack Taylor character. Have you read Bruen and if so any thoughts comparing to Higgins?

I haven’t, but will definitely add him to the list.

You should give Higgins a go, his stuff is genius.

Reading Get Shorty by Elmore Leonard.

Not sure if it’s because I’m a bit burned out at the moment or what, but not enjoying it as much as I expected I would. It’s a grand read though.

Finished Isaac Asimov's Robots and Empire the final book in his sci fi robots series. The first 3 books in the series were the best ones but this final one was a good read all the same and actually set the scene a little for his famous Foundation sci fi series.

Just finished When We Cease to Understand The World by Benjamin Labatut.

It's a semi fictionalized story of various 20th century scientists. Very good and pretty bleak. Makes a good job of explaining science to someone who knows nothing about science in an interesting way. Not the kind of thing I'm used to reading but wanted to read it after I watched Oppenheimer!
