Agreed Wanyama. Keeping Roberts is a necessity now. Forrest is way too inconsistent for my liking.

Yeah, like Lubo Moravcik's spell at Duisburg or Chris Suttons spell at Chelsea.

We definitely shouldn't sign players if they've been poor at another club.

That's exactly the kind of gem that our budget would love to find again. Gamboa is going to be our Dani Alves :50:

I admire your confidence or should I say chutzpah on Gamboa.
    But somehow I don't think so :giggle1:

Bojan would be a fantastic signing, but I'd be shocked if we broke our transfer record to get him.

Gotta have faith! He's got the pace and can play a good one two, I think he needs to get a better cross in or our attacking players need to read them better. Having said all that, it's a mystery how much game time Brendan will give him.

    Yeah I know all that.
    But Pullis dozen't rate him.

You said I had chutzpah, the player I mentioned is already signed. We'll never afford Paddy I don't know were your confidence is coming from although I would love if the loan was extended it's unusual for clubs to leave players at one club for so long?

I hope you prove me wrong

I can't even prove myself wrong :giggle1::giggle1::giggle1: But I have a feeling we will extend Robert's loan for another year, after that it is up to the player's ambitions and loyalties where he goes.

:56: I don't rate Pullis. But I think what Brendan thinks of him is worth 100x Pullis's judgement. He's too attack minded for Tony. Once he got up the field at 100mph he'd be like :43: And Pullis would be shouting get back in our penalty box you're a man down!

Pullis usually plays 4 centre backs across the defence. He wouldn't play Dani Alves if he signed for West Brom.

I would feel so much better about the qualifiers if we had Roberts but what about our new guy? I don't know anything about him and he's only 19. I know he's a midfielder, just wondering if it's to replace Paddy?

The Waistcoat did that too, and it worked for him.

Exactly. And you know Pullis would be right. A full back's first priority should be to defend first and foremost in my books, anything else is a bonus.

I know :56: That's how we got Gamboa. My view of Pullis is a pragmatist whose main concern is keeping the teams he usually manages in the EPL first and foremost. I don't think a team would hire him if they had European ambitions. I could be wrong though cause the EPL is so unpredictable. He is cautious though.

*? KT is always getting up the pitch and putting great crosses in. The problem with management of an attacking team is there's an inherent risk and it's displayed by Liverpool, City and any team who wants to get as many players forward to create as many chances as possible.

We change to a back 3 when our full backs get forward. That's why speed and effective possesion is important because it's dangerous when they lose the ball.

Brendan could never set up a Pullis defence with his tactics going forward.

Pullis and the Cardigan are both pragmatists, and yes it is all about survival and keeping the status quo.
There is something to be said for having an iron curtain defence.

Is there any substasiation in this rumour or just fantasy Phil spinning another one? I can't see it happening unless we were able to get him on the cheap. Too big a risk at the sort of values being mentioned

What are you doing? We were talking about Gamboa and how I said I'd love him to become our Alves. We were talking about Brendan's tactics and you've suddenly said there's something good about a strong defence :56:

That's like suddenly saying it's great to have a brilliant attack. A good structure is obvious but tactics dictate attacking and risk and trying to maximise one while minimising the other.

We have done quite well domestically preventing teams making too many chances though.

No, nothing except Phil Mac alleging it (that I have seen anyway). He is perhaps more reliable than the smsm.
