Celtic manager Neil Lennon is in the market for striker having lost talisman Gary Hooper to Premier League side Norwich City last month.

Sharp, who is one of Lennon's identified targets, said the chance to play at the highest European level would appeal to him.

"Celtic is a massive club and attracts huge crowds. It is a massive club with European football, so why not." he told SkySports Weekend Preview Show

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Sharp that he is not in his plans for next season and has advised him to find another club.

Sharp's former club Doncaster Rovers saw a loan bid for the striker rebuffed by the Saints who would prefer a permanent deal.

The 27-year-old is hoping he will return to first-team action sooner rather than later, but is unsure which club that will be at.

"I feel really fit, but match fitness not to sure, whatever happens I will decide when I cross that road, if it is Southampton or somebody else."

Sharp enjoyed a prolific campaign last season netting 11 times in 31 appearances whilst on-loan in the Championship with Nottingham Forest.

I suppose I'd take him at Celtic as long as we sign a player like Finnbogason, Hosiner etc.

    Rather sign Sharp than Doyle.

Championship career stats: 189 apps, 163 starts, 67 goals, 35 assists.
League One career stats: 82 apps, 80 starts, 53 goals, 5 assists.
League Two career stats: 16 apps, 16 starts, 9 goals, 0 assists.

Sharp is most certainly a better option to Doyle, doesn't say much though.

He does have a pretty impressive scoring record over the past few seasons. He'd definitely score a lot up here - obviously not sure if he would cut it in Europe but worth a punt depending on the fee.

Remember we probably want 2 strikers.

Big Bobo isnt getting a look in and Watt's been playing on the wing all pre-season. So Stokes is the only * getting a game up front.

    1. New Quality player
    2. Sharp
    3. Stokes
    4. Bobo
    5. Watt

5 Strikers, same as last season - Hooper, Stokes, Lassad, Miku and Watt.

In all honesty, I would prefer Kevin Doyle with the fact that he has played against top class european opposition for Ireland
