Just can't get excited about Billy Sharp, not sure why because I actually rate him as a good striker, just want a bigger name, something to get excited about..

On the sky sports app it says in the paper talk section that Billy Sharp is poised to sign for us.

I would take him, so long as we are still trying to take in another striker eg : Pukki. I think that Sharp would definitely get goals up in Scotland.

Me too buddy, If we are going for the likes of Sharp we should have paid 750k for Russell who is younger and better IMO.

There is no doubt this guy would score goals in the SPL....but so would Higdon or McKay if they went to Celtic.

We dont just need a better quality striker the fans deserve it.

Would be decent to have him in the squad and I'm sure he'd score goals but I'd want another striker in as well, totally agree.

I see J Russel is getting goals and providing them for DErby and GMS scored at the weekend, i think Celtic missed a trick by not signing both of them, tbh

No they wouldnt, Higdon and McKay are about English League 1 at best, probably English League 2 level players.

Sharp is a really good Championship class player, far better than both them combined.

Sharp has played with some top end Championship teams and scored goals, which is similar to what we have to do in the SPL. Higdon and McKay have the freedom and space to score goals against diddy SPL teams as they play against more open teams than Celtic. Saying theyd score for us is far from the truth, theyd struggle because they dont have the ability much like Chris Killen - theyd be far too easily marked because they have no skill nor intelligence to work in a confined space.

Id take Sharp as we need goalscorers who are guarenteed to score against the likes of these Cliftonville, Elfsborg and Karagandys, Sharp if we signed him 2 months ago would probably have scored 2/3/4 goals against these teams and made it much easier.

He wouldnt be good enough for the champions league if we qualified so if its true were going for Sharp i for one will be feeling cheated by the board, going for a cheap option knowing he'll do well in the SPL so it'll keep the fans off there backs but if comes to CL games he wont even get a sniff

we dont have 1 good enough striker that is celtic class so why add another mediocre player to the squad.we need a quality striker not another squad player that wont improve our first 11.lennon said end of the season he will start preparing for the qualifiers, well not very well is my view,in fact its been a shambles.i wish i had the same optimisim as others on wed night but just cant see it happening.this team is mediocre at best and untill wilson, hooper and wanyama are replaced with quality wont get any better.think its going to be a long painfull season.i only hope i am proved wrong.

If we can get him for a good price then why not? A lot of people saying he wont be good enough for europe but how does anybody know until he's given a chance?
