Bilic wants the job!

The fans have spoken! And it's about time they listened.

At least try. Please at least ask him!

 

I don't want to rain on your parade but I think this is never going to happen, the celtic board would be crazy to take a chance on Bilic. The same people who are crying out for him would crucify the board if he came in and cocked everything up.

I think he would be a character but it just won't happen, its too much of a risk. It's a bigger risk than anyone else mentioned for the job.

@ The Celtbot, interesting... will take it as you say 'with a grain of salt' but having said that i hold out hope this happens as does most users here, we know there's risks and possible drawbacks but i also believe this must happen now if ever it's going to.

For the simple reason if we miss the boat and he goes on to sucsess in the future we wont be able to stave off other parties.

 

TBH this is the only manager that gets me even slightly excited. Keane is a basket case and I dont think the rest can get us the type of player we need to strangle hold the SPL and progress in Europe.

 

I would be willing to take the chance. I think for us to go to the next level by being regulars in the champions league and winning trophies and playing good football, we will need a enthusiastic foreign manager with good contacts. If Coyle, Moybray, Levien, Mcghee etc get the job we will be signing championship and spl players again this summer and really going nowhere. I like all the managers i just mentioned but i just have a feeling Billic could do something that bit more special. I would rather find that out instead of taking another safe option. I also think Billic will really get Parkhead seriously buzzing again and full every week.

 

That's a good point as even the possibility of him becoming manager is getting the fans excited.

He wouldn't be my first choice simply because he has no club experience - working with players on a daily basis, budgets, transfer targets etc it's a lot to learn at a club where you are expected to win every game. Although not my first choice, I wouldn't be disappointed if he was appointed and would be as excited as the next person as he is a character and brings that enthusiasm with him.

 

Yeah lets hope it's with scintillating winning football and not him and his guitar on the karaoke during the halftime brek.:icon_mrgreen:

 

Come on Celtic take a risk! Alot of people are saying "hes unproven at club level", "its a massive risk" but i think after the season we have just had, it would show us that the club have some ambition. It is a risk, any new manager is a risk, but this guy is destined for big things and I guarantee there are a few big clubs keeping tabs on him. He was mentioned for the chelsea job as well, something coyle, mowbray and mcghee would never be. Not to mention his appeal to a larger number of "better" players. * it, take the chance deltic. If it doesnt work, a least we have shown that we want to improve and are willing to go for it

 

It's all well and good being able to attract "better" players but at the end of the day for most of them it will come down to money whether or not they sign, and Celtic will not be giving out huge pay-packets so just because we have a "bigger" named manager does not mean we'd automatically be able to attract better players, we would still have to convince them the come to the SPL and there is no guarantee of CL football this year either.

I agree that Bilic would be an exciting appointment but you can't write off the other candidates for their lack of experience without stating the same for Bilic.

Whoever is appointed will be a risk, but no matter what it's exciting times just now.

 

If it all goes wrong with him, which I doubt, noone could blame the board cos its what the majority of fans wanted.

If it goes wrong with any other manager the board would be hounded for lack of ambition!

 

It already shows a lack of ambition the fact they haven't even spoke to him yet after his agent has come out publicly and stated he wants the job!

 

How hard is it to send a representitive over to see him and begin discussions?

Even if things break down, at least we gave it a shot.

Just now it looks like we are just dingying him.
