So they would be averaging more than we get at home games which is what I pointing out. I know that the further down you go, the poorer the attendances and even top sides can get abysmal attendances - I mind Juventus getting something like 6,000 for a CL game vs Arsenal once.

Juves stadium only holds 40,000 does it not? They were sick of a large stadium and empty seats.

Personally I believe the reason why the Italians and Germans are able to charge what they do is because they are "marketable" leagues and those teams are probably able to make up those costs through external sponsorships, tv deals etc....

If we were in such a league that had the a "marketable" product we could afford to do similar things but we can't hence why we have to charge what we do, it's all if's and buts, but if we ever got to those type of prices I think attendances would rise, whether that would effect the atmosphere though is hard to judge really.

Yep, excellent compact stadium now. A far cry from the awful Stadio Delle Alpi.

Aye they can sell cheap tickets because they get massive TV Money.

Dortmund for example got £40million from domestic TV money last year. We got £2.4million.

If we sold cheap tickets we'd need to massively dowsize as about 30-50% of our income comes from tickets and match attending fans.

If you compare that to English, Italian and German teams and that then they get their biggest chunks of money from TV, Sponsorship and Kit deals.

It's mental that the powers that be over the decades have allowed the Nations image in football go so downhill, Everyone harks on about trying to adjust the German model to suit Scotland's future development but it means we would have to get people with actual brains to lead it.

Germans are shining light on how to save the national image as how many years ago was it they facing financial melt down I'm sure there was fuss being made about how much trouble money wise the domestic game was in, now look at them both domestically and internationally.

If Scotland could only find such people to make such ballsy moves we could get up there maybe not near the top but certainly up there so the gap aint so huge and then Celtic's name can then help bridge the gap a little more.

No we weren't. Even with the GB, 8/10 times the atmosphere was still gash.

One corner of the stadium isn't great.

A lot of home stadiums in Europe it's just the one corner/area. But we had one of best away supports in Europe before they were banned & who knows what a champions league game will be like if we make it.

Don't understand why the rest of the leagues don't take note at how well German football is doing at the minute and try and mirror it. Cheap seats, pints, standing areas and allow supporters to express themselves and create a bit of noise. All this "family day out" rubbish is destroying fan culture in England and Scotland.

Also, anything over £20 in to a game of football is absolutely scandalous. And I include CL games and cup finals in that. Celtic have strong working class roots and seeing poor people being ripped off week in, week out and then being treated like criminals inside the stadium angers me.

I'd happily take a few years out of Europe if it meant it was dirt cheap to get in to Parkhead and our home support had a bit of character back.

"We could charge more than £104. Let's say we charged £300. We'd get £2m more in income but what's £2m to us?"

"In a transfer discussion you argue about that sum for five minutes. But the difference between £104 and £300 is huge for the fan."

"We do not think the fans are like cows, who you milk. Football has got to be for everybody."

"That's the biggest difference between us and England."

Bayern Munich chairman. Someone email this to Pedro.

Atmosphere wise it has generally been absymal for a few years now, nothing to do with GB section 111 being scrapped. The GB very rarely go to away games as a group.

Nothing strikes home more than a visit to Pittordrie which used to be bouncing, now it's barely even average. Tannadice and Tynecastle remain good, the rest are usually *. Absolute * ripped out of us by a couple of hundred Partick Thistle kids a few months ago - one of best away supports in Europe :smiley-laughing002:

Difficult to compare to Germany, they have a population of what 80M people, 10M more than the whole of the UK.

Its easy to say adopt the german model but they have more fans to attract to games.

In Scotland we have a population of just over 5 million, to compare average attendance to a country 16 times our size is very unfair.

Scotland has one of the highest rate of attendance at football matches in
Europe in relation to population .

We have the best fans in the world , unfortunately on Saturday
we will have the quietest Stadium in Europe .

The only thing we should compare notes with Germany for is how they saved they game from financial ruin, stuff like attendances like you say can't really be compared as a Scotland v Germany ideal as the only team in Scotland who is able to get near German teams domestic attendances is us and even then if we managed to sell out again we'd be mid table at best.

If we actually had brains in charge of our national fa Scotland could atleast start getting back to a more respectful position we will never be World Cup winners unless we have a sudden surge of Messi's, Ronaldo's and co come through but atleast on a domestic level we can certainly become part of the furniture at CL level along with hopefully other teams whether it them IF they ever get there or in an ideal world teams like Dundee Utd are able to hold on to their players and start breaking through and making a name for themself.

Fair enough no one is challenging us right now but fingers crossed some of teams in our league can churn out good enough players and hopefully keep hold of them long enough for them to make a bigger impact on the clubs league positions and results rather then just bigwigs pay bonuses.

When people talk about this "German model" for our game they basically just want cheaper tickets and a better atmosphere at Celtic games.

Ross County vs Kilmarnock will always be Ross County vs Kilmarnock no matter what "model" you want to adopt. Making a fiver a head wont manifest an extra 5k Killie fans. They were dishing it out for free in the 90s and theyre still where they are now.

The league would be better if teams that can draw a crowd like Hibs were to get their act together more than the current ratio of 1 season in 20. In 2000/01 when they had Sauzee and Latapy they pulled in good crowds. They also take big crowds to Hampden.

Every year the quality drops a little, tv cash dwindles and people who have seen the same fixture 100 odd times in a decade cant stomach it anymore.

scottish clubs/holding companies are like the animal licking the final drops from the water hole with no rain on the way.

True about playing the same teams all the time. We need a bigger League and to play each other less. Im only 23 yet have probably seen us play Hearts, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Dundee Utd, Aberdeen etc atleast 30 times each. The Old Club probably about 45 times and thats me just counting games ive been at there will be much more watched on TV.

Thats far too much seeing the same clubs.
