I was having this debate in the work the other day because it seems everyone hates Craig Burley no matter who you support, so who is your most and least favourite football commentator or pundit, and why?
Least- Burley...I dont even need to explain why
Most -Strangely Lee Dixon he just annoys me the least out of the MOTD team.

I think Martin Tyler is probably the best.. He doesn't baffle us with stats like Motson , he doesn't do the cathphrases like "take a bow son".. He just tells you good information..
Other than him Im not that keen on many others.. Tyldlsey is decent enough for CL football but falls into the "English football is the greatest" category of *.. -

WGS & Souness - Both usually have interesting things to say on matches rather than just tell you what you already know.
Gray - Didn't like the last word and stuff like that but he was a good co-commentator on matches. Even if he was becoming a bit of a parody of himself.

Best: Ian Crocker by a mile. Like Davie Provan as an analyst as well; very insightful at times. Peter Martin on the radio is class as well.

I Like burley he tells it how it is he does nt suffer fools gladly i know he is a co commentator there was a game a couple weeks ago i think it was derek rae was the com with burley .Burley and rae were talking during the game rae said something burley dissagreed not sure what exactly was said but after it there was a long silence maybe someone from TC knows what game it was . I Know a celtic fan maybe should nt like andy gray but i think sky commentators will miss him he went on a bit but he was good at his job C.T.I.D.

Agree with Ian Crocker , Peter Martin and also Ian Darke , who I felt got patronised something stupid whenever he had the misfortune to be stuck in commentary with andy gray.. It came across as though gray thought "what is this boxing commentator doing commentating on football , ach well I guess I'll just correct all his mistakes whenever he opens his mouth and makes a gaff"..

Mark lawerson, motson's partner in crime, he cant analyse worth a * usually sits there making crap jokes.
Burleys just a *, clearly has some issues with celtic, also the man hes works alongside is monotonous sack of *.
Gough also has came out with some baffling statements.
Actually the whole ESPN set up is a cheap * hun piece of crap, even the * who hosts it. -

I dont dislike them all as people...except Tyldesley,but i pretty much dont like any commentators.I would love to have a switch them off button but still hear the crowd.I just dont need to hear another guys opinion rammed down my throat.I have a little more time for ex-footballers as they do have an insiders point of view.The only time i accept them willingly,is when i dont know enough about the players to recognise them individually and need their name pointed out,but with the advent of names on shirts,this is not needed much either.

Who's the commentator on Radio Scotland!!? He is ganting!! Goes crazy when the oppostion then when we score just a minimal reaction and you have to wait a good 30 seconds before you realise it's a goal!! Ian Crocker will be gutted Jaime Ness won't be playing, he bigs him up something stupid!

Always thought Ian Crocker was a great commentator. Just gets on with the job, throws in some interesting stats and very rarely lets his own opinion take over what he's doing.
Actually don't mind Burley myself, just calls it as he sees it.
Cannot stand John Motson, especially during world cups etc, * can't get through a broadcast without mentioning E**land or 1966, regardless of whether they are playing or not.
