Stuff 6 million keep him another season and he'll be worth 8 million after he proves it wasn't just a good season.

Beram Kayal warns Celtic over new deal
    Fri, 10 Jun 2011 07:56:03 GMT

Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal has said that the club must make him feel valued as they prepare to offer him a new deal.

The Israeli joined Celtic last summer form Maccabi Haifa and proved an instant hit with impressive performances in the SPL and has attracted the interest of clubs in the English Premier League. Bolton Wanderers are thought to be keen on taking the midfielder south but Celtic want to agree a new contract on improved terms.

The 23-year old is not one of the highest earners at Parkhead and has warned that even though his current deal runs until 2014 he does want a pay rise.

“It’s very important to play for who wants you most,” he said.

“I am not the man to make these decisions. I just concentrate on doing my job on the pitch for my team and manager. It’s all about playing football for me in the right place and where I enjoy it.

“I enjoy it at Celtic and I want to stay but who knows what might happen in the next few weeks.”

Kayal has switched agents, appointing a family member to conduct his affairs, and says that although he is loving life at Celtic he needs to know he is considered to be a key figure.

“These discussions are nothing to do with me,” he told the Daily Record.

“It’s a question for the people who are in charge and it will depend on them.

“I like Celtic. I like the fans, I like the manager and I would be very happy to keep playing for the club.

“But they must treat me at the level I deserve.”

The players agent, Hamoudi Kayal said that after initial talks no deal had yet been agreed. He said: “At the moment, nothing has changed.

“We respect the people we are dealing with and will wait to hear from them.”

transfer markets have changed considerably since then, when the inexpereinced likes of David Ngog are going for 8m, Smalling went from fulham to United for 11m then someone like Kayal is worth at least 10m.

lets not forget, he's under contract for another 3 years, he wont be going anywhere without Celtic receiving at least 8-9m for him, even at that Lennon is trying to build a team not dismantle one and if Celtic need to raise funds then they'll flog Hoiveld, Rasmussen, Juarez, Murphy & McGinn.

Ljungberg, Forster, McGowan and Hinkel have left already so that's 50-60k a week in wages saved for starters. If we flog the above players we'd be looking at wage savings of 100k+ a week and transfer revenues of £5m or so, so there's plenty more money freed up to increase the wages of Kayal & Izzy while still leaving 60k a week wages in the pot for 2 or 3 new signings.

radio snide there ,celtic rate him at 6 mill , u can see why ,its a reflection of the deal they can offer in wages ,if they say 15 mill for him they need to pay wages that reflect wot he is worth .

Bullshit. If Brown is 4.5 and Hutton went for 9m, Kayal is worth a lot more.

Haw Mr. just watch your terminolgy there eh. I am off Coal Mining stock, and from a good family of die-hard Celtic fans. Also remember people like the great Jimmy Quinn, and Jock Stein were also Coal Miner's. I take offence at your remarks mate :47:

Yes nothing wrong with Bolton good working class town, Bolton's not the problem here. If it wasn't Bolton it would be someone else. Family have spoken of keeness for him to play for Man u so this just smackes of being part of the grand plan.

I dont like this attitude from our stars making it sound like they are doing us a favour by staying. They have only been here a year and are under contract. They should shut TF up and do their job. Kayal and Izz should be told no bid under 8 million will be considered. Anyway, to sell them now would be madness. They have only play half a season will be worth a lot more in another year, especially if we do OK in the Europa.

Carlos Valderrama, its not Bolton who are the issue but Owen Coyle and the fact he is a decent man who realises that there is talent in the spl. The reason why Bolton are interested is Coyle watches the spl, the non scottish mangers just ignore the spl as do the rest of england they are so prejudice. The low first offer is what all club's do. Look at Celtic's £300,000 offer for the Coventry goal keeper Westwood. My local pub would put bundesliga on before the spl. One last point on Bolton, don't slag them off too much as Phil garside is a rarity, an epl chairman who wants celtic in the epl!

Bolton are ready to test Celtic's resolve to keep Beram Kayal by raising their interest in the Israeli international to £4million.
Sportsmail understands the Barclays Premier League side are prepared to double their valuation of the midfield enforcer after speculation about a move to the Reebok Stadium started at £2m.
