He has done enough so far to buy some goodwill but he looked miles off it today.

We seem to have a real inconsistency problem with our midfielders.

Slowly but surely falling in the same category as Engels and Bernardo.
Similar players all around, all three able to show in glimpses they are a real talent, but consistency and playing in a midfield that doesn't complement each other is truly hindering them all.

I have to disagree, I thought he had to cover some amount of ground today given what was around him. I don’t think him and Hatate work together in midfield and I would rather see a Bernardo or Engels, play with one of Nygren or Hatate.

We have a lot of games coming up and there would be ample opportunities for the four of them. I found it strange McCowan came on today and was largely ineffective when on the field.

I agree regarding Engels. He looks like our best hope of finding a consistent midfielder.

It was only a month ago people were celebrating finding a gem in Nygren.

I think Hatate is probably our luxury player. Really doesnt seem to do anything 9 times out of 10

Not impressed. So far from being an automatic pick yet he is.

He’s still new, I think his game time needs to be managed. He was all over the place the last 20 mins.

For his size he’s weak. Plus he gives fouls away constantly cause he’s slow. Really not sure on him

So far I think he's not good enough. I hope that changes.

He looks like an attack minded midfielder that prefers to get the ball in advanced positions. Either to drive forward with the ball into the box or to arrive in the box to get on the end of something.

I dont think he particular suits this slow build up football we are playing where our midfielders arent really asked to do much other that keep the football and move it from wing to wing. Neat, short passing doesnt seem to be his strength.

Way I see it, he was excellent against Aberdeen and Livingston, and showed exactly what he can offer typically. Today he was awful, but he's not someone im going to write off considering the circumstances surrounding the team and the fact that Rugby Park is a bogey ground for us and Rodgers.

Hopefully Rodgers is able to find a midfield that properly compliments each other, it'll help the likes of Engels and Hatate a lot more too

Are we seriously writing him off already?

    * me this place.

A month ago he was our next big transfer fee. Now hes *.

Does anyone ever think that theres a pattern with midfielders here? We KNOW they have talent and potential, we KNOW what they can do.

I for one dont think that players like Engels, Bernardo, Nygren, CalMac et al are actually the problem at all.

The manager needs to take a long hard look at his midfield and sort it to * out. Hes ignored the glaring weaknesses in his set up for too long, and its the players shoehorned in there, tasked to do things outwith the spectrum of their suitability, that take the heat from fans.

He's proving to be inconsistent. However, that also applies to Calmac and Hatate as the 3 of them have been blowing hot and cold since the start of the season. Midfield is a concern and needs to be switched up for me. Said it before with the 6 midfielders we have in the squad we should be utilising them better. Given the fact we also don't have a reliable right winger on the books I just don't see the point in playing this rigid 4-3-3 every week.

Said it before but he ain't a centre mid. Could prob get away with playing off the striker but as an 8, box to box type he's a liability. He has no defensive instincts whatsoever and actually looks uncomfortable. At home, when we're running over the top of teams it'll look great but away from home or against any decent opposition it's asking for trouble. I said he'd be better for us off the right but even then it's not really appealing considering he's never gonna go on the outside. Keep playing him central with Hatate and we will keep looking out of sorts. We need to dip in to the market in January for a proper midfielder.

We will always have inconsistent form with our 8’s because of how much we ask drom them going forward. Almost like a winger consistency level

Due to changed work circumstances, I've only seen him play twice and I feel a bit ridiculous judging a player after that; but in those two games, he looked physically slow and technically limited (not as limited as Bernardo but still limited).

He does look direct and seems to have good football intelligence, so I can see that he has a role to play in certain games; but I'm not convinced he improves our midfield.

I don't know, I just prefer players with better technical ability, like McGregor, Hatate and Engels, although I fully acknowledge that those 3 together form a really unbalanced midfield that doesn't really work

A bit silly of me to say much after watching him twice and hopefully it turns out I'm spectacularly wrong about him. I just wanted to join in the conversation.

Strange player. I like him and think he will come good but it's like the 3 midfielders don't match with eachother. I think it is a collective problem more than 1 man. All 3 of them just not play football.

Which is worrying because midfield is where you gain the right to play football.

Everytime you see him being dangerous is just outside and even inside centre of the box. He is clearly a CAM.
