I hear ya buddy, I always thought this game was going to be our hardest simply because unlike Barca where we were expected not to get anything, we go into this game with higher expectation.

However this team seems to be made of sterner stuff than previous celtic champions league teams away from home in europe. If we can get the first goal then Benfica will have to open up and we've looked dangerous on the counter in Europe

I really hope we finish the job in Lisbon, I'd take any kind of positive result. Don't think my nerves could take waiting till the last minute against Spartak. :smiley-laughing002: I'm hopeful that we'll qualify anyway.

Team to face Benfica, Whats yours?

    :bbpd:
    Forster
    Matthews - Wilson - Ambrose - Mulgrew
    Kayal - Wanyama - Ledley*
    Commons**
    Watt - Lassad***

    * Is Ledley injured?
** Give Commons a free role being central can let him dictate the play and spread out passes.
*** Think the game will suite Lassad with time on the ball and him being good with his feet and being able to keep the ball close to him.

    Whats yours?
    Hail Hail!

Are you serious ? The big man should be the first name on the team sheet..
And Kayal is never the player he was 2 seasons ago, (i hope he gets back to that form) when he was a terrific player..

Sorry, just checked kick-off times. Game starts at 7:45PM, coverage on Sky Sports 2 from 7:00PM. Would one of the mods mind changing the thread title if it needs changing? Cheers. :50:

We are massive underdog's in this one and for me we will be extremely lucky to even take a point. Benfica are much better than they showed at Parkhead when we should have taken the 3 points.

Over and above everything else though, when have Celtic ever made things easy? If we qualify it will be by beating Spartak at Parkhead imo.

I hope we can get the win but im doubtfull. everyone will be on a high from the barca score and might come complacent and * things up. I expect a real hard game but would be great if we get the win because if we win away this time again, i really think were going to wembley this year

Some quotes from a Benfica fan I chat to sometimes -

"Benfica is getting better and Luisão is finally returning. However, I doubt he will play against you since he is not in a good form. He will be playing his first match in 2 months tomorrow.

It will be a close match and Benfica have to win to keep any hope of qualifying to the next round. We have been playing well, even with some injuries. Fortunately the youngsters stepped up and been doing good.

If you manage to keep it 0-0, Benfica will have to attack more and will make mistakes that you can take advantage of.

Cardozo might play but the manager has changed a lot between him and Rodrigo lately. Lima will definitely start. I'll tell you who should start after tomorrow's cup game."

I've heard Ezequiel Garay's out. Big loss for Benfica if it's true, especially if Luisão's not in line to start.

Think we can beat Benfica as we are beginning to set a successful template together for these games. strong physical defence, powerful midfield and interchangeable strike force. Cardozo is their danger man.

    Forster

    Lustig Ambrose Wilson Mulgrew

    Commons Kayal Wanyama Ledley Samaras

    Hooper

    Darn tootin' :smiley-laughing002:

You just know it'll probably end up that way going into the last game!
