Sorry but it is too much. Yes kids are expensive, but not £1,000 a month their not. I know that for a fact, having had a kid (well step-kid). And believe me that is more than enough. And you can read the lads post saying she is living a somewhat lavish lifestyle at the UK taxpayers expense.

Thank * for that!! Whilst there are a lot of people who cheat the system, there are also a lot of people who genuinely need to use it to help them out through a tough time

Edit: what nationality is the single mother sean south?

What does race or nationality have to do with any of this, it's clean cut, those that screw the system and those who don't. Where this hole race or nationality issue comes in is irrelevant FFS

Because of the accusations given that immigrants here cheat the benefit system, I'm guessing this person is British, and is just the typical teenager mum, rather than an immigrant come to this country to sponge of the generous welfare state, as lots of people of the right wing persuasion would have you believe.

Considering the 70 billion pounds of tax the rich evade a year and the fact that so few own so much while so many have so little, yes crumbs.

Every time I read an OP with a thread title like this one I hear a distant rumble which gets louder and louder and sure enough it is the hoofbeats of the high horse brigade trampling over anybody who dares to disagree with their views.People on this forum I find have varied opinions and seem quite capable of forming them on their own, without the need to use the dreaded media as is so often the accusation during discussions of this ilk. Let the people talk, and respect that they have taken the time to post replies of their own free will instead of accusing them of being Tories and Daily Mail readers : from a concerned Daily Express reader

even if she did win the car in a raffle, is it right that people in our society have views like this and the system lets them have no job and live a luxurious lifestyle that the taxpayer pays for?

and the house that the council provided? 4 bedroom semi detached,a driveway with a gate at the end, and a back garden that resembles a 5 side pitch

you do know the current tax and benefits system benefits the lowest 20% the most - and by quite a great deal?

Dont get me wrong - if someone works hard for years and pays their taxes, then benefits should exist so if they lose their job or become ill they are cared for. This can happen to anyone and it would be an awful society that would allow hard working but unlucky people to do nothing as they suffer.

But the lower class layabouts who have contributed nothing to our society should not get a penny. They should get coupons and food parcels to give them basic subsistence and that is it. If people chose not to work or better themselves then by all means give them enough to keep them alive (otherwise crime rates will go through the roof) but it should be absolute subsistence. It is madness we as a nation reward people who chose not to work more than those who want to work hard and contribute to society.

Question for OP. Did you not contact the benefits agencies etc and ask what impact moving in together would have on your claim?

I work for HMRC, tax credits and spend a pretty large amount of my time telling people what impact changes will have, it's just common sense surely :/

Thats pish, Tax credit fraud alone is £1billion according to HMRC, never mind benefits administrated by the DWP (Job seekers, IS, disability etc etc) and local authorities (housing benefit). The bit at the bottom does my * head in aswell.

As Sween, the most right wing, ignorant poster on any forum I've ever been on has just entered the thread I think it's best if I refrain from posting in this debate any longer as I'm liable to get a permanent ban. I'm away to read my Guardian.

:50: It is a pain when facts get in the way of a good hateful rant.
