This is the Bank of New York's history of owning shares in us....

    2006 - ????% less than 3%, if any.
    2007 - 3.93%
    2008 - 5.42%
    2009 - 6.67%
    2010 - 7.04%
    2011 - 7.60%
    2012 - 7.75%
    2013 - 9.12%
    2014 - 12.86%
    2015 - 12.99%

So they are constantly upping their shareholding every year. They've snapped up 10% in the last 9 year alone :97: weird how nothing is ever said about it a company worth £350billion(ish) constantly buying shares in us for what reason.

They owned 3% in 2006, found an article on Forbes about us then saying they owned 3% wasnt in the accounts though must have been someting like 2.9% or something.

Not really worrying, what they gonna do? mount a takeover then punt everything lol

They must think they can make money for some reason which would be good for us as it means something good would have to happen for shares to become very valuable.

The bank of New York are likely increasing their holding by reinvesting any dividends payable they will also have Celtic shares as part of a massive diversification of investments across all the asset classes etc. Nick Train also invests in steady companies ,although last I heard he had also bought sevco ,so he took a bit of a hit on them lol.

Do I think proper fan ownership is a good idea, yes, however in practice it will/would never work. For all we hear moans about the board overall they do do a pretty good job.

I can only base what I think on speaking with other fans (not just on here) and it would be hard to achieve a better balance than what we already have. IMO anyway.

    What he says. :smiley-laughing002:

Also (correct me if im wrong anyone) but do banks not have departments and 'bankers' who are in charge of investing into different shares. Each employee has for example, their own 'limit' of ivestment. For example Joe Bloggs has a £20m limit and Andy Pandy may have a £10m limit and so on and so forth. Each of these guys will have their own portfolios, they invest in companies in which they believe are steady and profitable. If they make mistakes they don't get their bonuses and sometimes get the sack.

I imagine people like this within the bank will be investing the banks money into our shares because we are steady and reliable.

The Bank isn't going to take majority share and asset strip ffs. :56: Most shareholders go under the radar at all businesses.

Are the Bank of New York not nominees rather than the actually shareholders ?

I always assumed that fan-owned clubs basically meant that the board of directors were nominated and voted in by the fan ownership group?

I don't think that having the people in charge of running the club answerable to the support is a bad thing.

Bank of New York are the financial arm of the IRA, makes sense they would invest in Celtic.

The point of a PLC is to make money for the shareholders. We would be better fan owned. Elect me lads and ill do the business.
