Jesus wept, 5 million for that cart horse! Honestly did people see how guff he was at the weekend.

We’ve had all window to address the centre half issue and we are now looking at brining in someone who at 5 million is criminal.

    Bollocks.

Barely looks an upgrade on Scales.

Apparently MJ interest is dependent on them selling Hamer to Leeds.

Even if it was a swap I wouldn’t be surprised if it showed up as two sales, as that is better for FSR. You can claim the full income but amortise the transfer fee paid over the duration of a contract. So even if both were valued at £5m, you can count £5m income whilst only having spent £1.25m if it is a 4 year deal.

I'll withhold judgment til I've seen him properly, but this seems like a colossal waste of cash. At centre half. Again.

Surely for that price there’s better quality elsewhere.

There definitely is but buying centre backs has never been a strength of Rodgers. I didn’t really fancy CCV before the game and he massively proved me wrong so hoping for more of the same.

I do feel there has been a lot of decent central defenders moved or likely to move for modest fees we could have signed though.

Reads a lot like the CCV transfer thread in here, just sayin. This guy is 6 ft 3, quick, strong and experienced. I’m not sure about anything else because I’ve barely ever seen him play but don’t you think Rodgers will have targeted a player who is good with the ball? He was POTY at Birmingham and now written off because he was part of a shambolic Sheff Utd team in the prem? This guy is athletic as *. Its a promising signing if we make it.

Doesn't look too bad here. Can see why BR would want him. Decent in the air, strong and can pick a pass quickly.

Nawrocki was only 1m less tbf.

    5m isn't a lot now

I'm sceptical tbh. Not sure he's "quality" but then again nobody we are linked with is guaranteed to be.

It's just not that exciting a link. Will see how it pans out. I was hoping for a CB who was the same sort of investment as Engels. Maybe a bit more experienced.

Never heard of the guy, but the time to judge him will be when he's in a Celtic strip, that is if he signs.

He does look good from that. Gets the ball out his feet and plays forward quick. This is where I think Scales lets himself down. He takes that extra touch and it then closes the space down for the player he is then passing to.

I would have been happy with a Kolo Toure type signing for Europe.

Reading the comments in here has me feeling underwhelmed to say the least.

Out all the CB's we've been linked with he probably looks the worst. I thought Clarke Salter would've suited us

The fact he's played in epl last year makes me think either Rodgers knows him well enough or someone he trusts down there has recommended him to us and either way he's a Rodgers signing so he's someone he thinks he can get best out of.

Does fit the criteria he was reportedly looking for, ie big, quick and physical so I'm happy to trust the manager on this one

Had a look at his stats and maybe not as bad as i first thought. He gets 35+ games per season everywhere he have played, so can't be that bad if he is a regular starter. Could maybe be a decent signing after all.

One comment on a SU forum read " We could trade with Mikey Johnstone and play him at central defence and he would do a better job" :56:

But i think their whole squad is complete garbage.
