    I'm not picky.
Seen a few here where I live actually riding like that. They are pretty much riding on the left side of the road instead of the right. One actually flipped me off because I didn't give him enough room. * *.

I think there's so much hatred cos some of them can be a pain in the *. Cycling side by side (as one person said earlier); weaving in and out traffic being a danger to other drivers; going up a pavement just to avoid red traffic lights.

I used to cycle a lot when I lived in Scotland and I loved it, and in all honesty, I find that a lot more car drivers are a bigger pain in the * than cyclists. Taxi drivers for one :censored:

Naw. Most cycle lanes have cars parked all over them, pot holes, poorly placed drains, or lead to nowhere. Furthermore, there's almost always broken glass scattered across them. There's nothing in the law that says cyclists have to use them, and when they are as poorly thought-out and maintained as they are here, then there's no chance.

    Take this, for example.

I cycle this way most days on my way to work, but never use the lane. Can you guess why?

Highway code (ie, the law) has this covered. Drivers should expect and make allowances for cyclists to swerve due to the conditions of the road.

If we are not allowed to swerve around pot-holes, then that's the majority of every city in the UK (and probably most other countries too). Bit of a silly statement.

Agree with you regarding paired up cyclists on narrow roads. No different from slow drivers really. However, it's important to remember that cyclists have as much right to be on the road as drivers do

    • Why are they fuds? I don't really own any lycra but it's no different from folk wearing a football top and football boots to a game of fives.

If you'd ever cycled a serious distance you'd realise that lyrca is actually fairly sensible - the chafing and sweating can be quite severe and wearing the right type of clothing can really help with that.

They have a right to be on the road, but they * me off beyond belief to be brutally honest.

I had a go at one the other day for being on the slip road of a motorway, what the clown was doing there I have no idea.

They don't * me off half as much as motorcyclists though.

I'm a huge cyclist myself and am out most days and at weekends, to be honest were I am motorists aren't that bad, I live in the countryside so the roads are a little more quiet in fairness but most people will leave enouh room and stuff.
The only time I have issues really is in urban areas or if I'm cycling in Belfast.
Bus drivers, taxi drivers & lorry drivers are the worst for cutting you off, leaving no room and stuff and that gripes me alot.
Cyclists have as much right on the road as anybody else and a bit of respect doesn't go a miss for the safety of everyone both motorists and cyclists.

To drivers - if you got on a bike you would be a lot fitter and save a * load of money otherwise spent on petrol.

The reason you all don't is that your just too lazy :bbpd:

Dunno how it works in Ireland but there is no such as road tax in the UK, and there hasn't been since the 1930s :bbpd:

The roads are paid for by everyone's tax, so yeah, cyclists have just as much right as anyone else to be on the roads.

Why would I want to hang about a bus stop for ages then hand over money to the driver of a stinking diesel piece of crap which helps pollute or planet when I can take my bike and get where I'm going a lot quicker? £1.55 for just over a mile that McGills mob are starting to take the * with their prices. Over £3 for a day ticket now.

I rarely go on the road with my bike because a lot of drivers have really stinky attitudes to bikers (might is right) even though I'll stay as close to the kerb as possible when I'm on the road.
