Artur Boruc
I've been hearing he's also coming to Glasgow today along with Zurawski...I'm dissappointed at this because we were hearing Niemi and Kirkland being linked with us, who are top class keepers. The Polish lads who've come on have said Boruc is quite cocky, and to be honest, so is Bellamy...look at the impact he made :50:

Re: Artur Boruc
Cockiness can be a good thing - as long as it isn't pure arrogance.
There's a lot of cocky quality goalies out there, and this cockiness is bourne from a confidence in their own ability. this is something which is def. required in a goalie...
I've seen kirkland a bit, and he looked pretty slow to me, so I;m glad we lost out on him.
It's a shame that we can't go for Niemi as he is quality. That said thought, the Poles seem to think that Boruc could be the new national keeper so you never know. 600 grand could be good business. Remember big Rab cost us 1.5mil (I think!!!!)

Re: Artur Boruc
ano he could be quality...but I wld prefer Niemi deffo.Boruc and Zurawski could end up failing and COULD be a waste of 3million together along with another potential signing Alliadiare. Why are we going in for so many strikers as he already said he is a keen admirer of Hartson and Sutton. So is he going to sell Hartson? or mabye even put big Sutty in defence which I think would be a good move as hes not really prolific enuff upfront. Zurawski and Bellamy up front would be WORLD CLASS. -

Re: Artur Boruc
Kirkland? As in Liverpools Chris kirkland?
Do we really want to pay alot of money for a player who'll be lucky to play about 4 games a season. He's a walking cripple. -
Re: Artur Boruc
Rosco - same guy. And yes, he is injury prone...

Re: Artur Boruc
What if ever happened to signing the french no.2 Laundreau. I would much prefer him to Niemi or Kirkland. -
Boruc is not only young (as for a 1st team goalie) and talented goalkeeper. He's already a reliable goalkeeper. Doesn't afraid crosses like Dudek, has a excellent reflex and his commanding abilities are also very good. "Me thinks" also that during last season Boruc performed much better than Dudek and I'll be more confident having Boruc as 1st choice keeper in the national side. Taking into account that Boruc could and should improve over the time it's a very good investment into the future as well as improvement over the current Celtic situation.
Below picture of Zurawski and Boruc (both are skippers in their clubs)

Re: Artur Boruc
Sounds like a good shout if you ask me...
To be honest, the last few days have been far more optimistic for me on the signing front. The prospect of having a good goalie, and a more modern attacking style (going by who we are being linked with) bodes well for next season...

Re: Artur Boruc
Hes a big fella, what height is he? no wonder hes not afraid hes not afraid to come out for crosses. So you think it would be worth taking Boruc to Celtic Park? -
Re: Artur Boruc
I would prefer Niemi but a lot of people think Boruc is a good keeper so i'd be happy if we signed him. -
Re: Artur Boruc
Boruc looks massive as Zurawski is 6ft tall and Boruc looks much taller then him. If we were to sign Boruc how much would he cost us in comparison to Niemi? -

Re: Artur Boruc
600 thousand compared with about 2.5 mill...

Re: Artur Boruc
In that case Boruc sounds like the better option especially considering that Niemi is about 35 years old. How old is Boruc as I expect that he is much younger. -
Re: Artur Boruc
Niemi is definitely no risk option. He has proved himself as excellent goalkeeper in the Premiership. But... he's also too costley as for a thirtysomethin' keeper. Just my opinion. Boruc has 1 year on his current contract with Legia so should be available for much less than it's stated in press. Something around 600ths euros or so (he has 1,5 mill release clause)
He's 194cm tall (6'4" ?) and 85kg weight. He's not a small kid... LOL -

I think Hartson may be on his way out (I hope).
If we binned Hartson, it would free up a totally different style of Celtic. We need to be able to change style more.
Sutton will never, ever play all season, so it makes sense resting him more than we have. This will mean the possibility of playing with Zura and Alladierre up front, or Zura/Bellamy (if it happens) - or whatever. But as long as Hartson is there, but not getting a gmae he'll just cause friction in the dressing room.
If we bin Hartson, I would go out and find a young target man though, Someone who can learn from Sutton.

Re: Artur Boruc
In my opinion the best goalkeepers are very tall like Petr Cech for example. Boruc would be a good signing but do you think that he is better than David Marshall? -
Re: Artur Boruc
Dunno .... had no possiblity to see him (i.e. Marshall). Here in Poland I can watch only european games... and not all of them (SPL is out of reach). So I just don't know, but if Boruc is a second choice goalkeeper in MON and GS books ... well, I personally trust them.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 29, 2005 -
