Haven’t seen anything about a rejected bid which is a good sign. Rodgers making him a priority is another. Think this one will go through.

Rodgers will want this one to get over the line.

Has he told the club he'd like to speak to us. No point keeping an unhappy player

Rodgers literally said himself the other day we haven't spent much as well.

I actually got the Megabus from Germany to the UK once, back in 2015. I'd love it if it turned out Lawwell started doing that to signings just to wind up some of us on here. :56:

It is a genuine risk, which IMHO is why we've historically been much more willing to pay substantial fees after a successful loan period.

That’s football. You can just be risk averse forever.

We've wasted tens of millions on 2-3 million punts which flopped.

We’ve got so much cash can we just pay over £12m so the huns lose another record. Worth it for the hun tears

Could sign a player for £100m and that could happen.

    Let the people sing
Tilio, Holm, Kwon, Yang, Nawrocki, and Lagerbielke.

None of them make the grade, to be honest.

Ten to eleven million for a relatively unknown twenty-year-old. I suppose time will tell if we sign him.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but we've been duped many times before. Get all hyped up at a new prospect, then they play a few games, then we discover they're actually *. By then, it's too late.

The risk should be less than with a £2-£3 million player. It is that simple. Yes it’s still a risk but if we don’t break the mould we will always be signing the Yangs of this world and getting absolutely embarrassed in the CL.

The thing is none of those players are comparable in terms of level of 'project'.

Can't compare Kwon for example coming from 2nd division of Korea to someone playing regularly in the Bundesliga and cusp of the Belgian national side.

Ofcourse every signing could flop but he's 100% the level we need to start progressing to in terms of young players coming into the club.

If we took the attitude of being afraid to sign anyone based on our past deals not working out we'd never sign any *.

If we get this guy and a LCB, I'm 100% calling it a good window TBH. Replaced Hart, new LB, paid the money for Idah, shipped out a lot of deadwood for decent fees, proactive in getting loans sorted, no cheap projects and, if this goes through, a genuine prospect to replace O'Riley (who was always going to go).

The last 2 January windows were poor and last summer was the worst window I can remember by some distance; but I really want to give credit where credit's due this summer: they've clearly been working their behinds off.

If and only if they get this over the line plus a LCB.

This is a pay big, to get to the next level situation. Pay what they want us to pay.

We can all thank the punter outside the ground after the St. Mirren match hassling Lawwell for this newfound ambition. Spurred him right into action.
