I never seen Celtic win the title when I was a wain. It was all doom and * gloom and I travelled over and back on the boat semi regular, headed up to the bree inn in Malin Head to get an aul * scrambled BBC Scotland picture, or listened to it on the wireless. Hardly * spoiled it was nothing but disappointment.

What is with the diddy mentality, "spoilt fans" and all that *. What the * is wrong with demanding the best out of your team? It's almost as though Scottish football has made people give up. I'm a dreamer but I still want us to win a European trophy in my lifetime, realistically probably the Europa but * it thats where we should be aiming. If we are going to just be ambitious enough to be half a step ahead of the next Scottish team we may as well self liquidate and call it a day. We should always be looking to do better.

I can't stand the defeatist attitude our support. Its as if its unacceptable when you want ambition, you get cackled at when you want whats best for us. Theres more concentration for disregarding it than actively processing higher quality and having the belief to win a Europa League.

Starting losing interest around the Strachan years. Used to absolutely love getting the coach up with the Luton CSC, travelling a 16 hr round trip in all weathers, buzzing when you'd get to London rd. Wouldn't waste my time, money or energy on it now.

I started supporting the club in 1992, aged 9, growing up down here I had a vague idea of a team way up in Scotland that my Dad liked but being surrounded by Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool fans it never connected properly until I got the chance to see them on the telly one day.
Of course back then we were *, true underdogs battling against that crowd every year, watching them play Leeds in the European Cup while Tony Cascarino ran around chasing pigeons for us.

But they were * great times, the sense of community I felt from being a Celtic fan was almost tangible. Getting rid of the board, building a new ground, stopping the ten, all great memories but you always felt part of something bigger and that being a Celtic fan meant something, * it I'm useless trying to put it in to words as a feeling is a very hard thing to tap onto a keyboard.
Although it was great to win and collect trophies that's not why I became a Celtic fan as we were doing nothing when I fell in love the club, what mattered was what the club stood for and the sense of belonging to a club that wasn't just 'another' club like Man Utd or whatever.
I used to bring mates up about 15 years ago and they were blown away by the whole thing, the crowds coming to watch us hump the likes of Dunfermline etc.

There was always a romantic element to Celtic that has now long since gone. We have players at the club now who wouldn't excite an 10 year old with ADHD on acid and a board and management who look, talk and sound like weekend golfers from a suburban accounting firm, only tighter.

I haven't been to Celtic now for 5 years, we drew 1-1 with Dundee United, and it was *. The atmosphere was rank, the whole corporate feel had gone up another level and there were thousands of empty seats. This was all a good 2 1/2 before Rangers went bust so my level of apathy and many more was kicking in long before they disappeared. I couldn't care less about what goes on at the club anymore, I'm not even sure if I blame the club I just think football is generally * these days, I'm not even sure when I last sat down and watched a game all the way through.

Maybe the fact I'm 32 about to become a Dad myself and realise I wouldn't be caught anywhere near the company of certain Celtic players means I find it very hard to give a toss if their hamstrings hold up for the next game, or who James Forrest's favourite actor of all time is.

I am in from the pub now as I'm off till Friday but * me am I glad I unloaded that.

The crux of it for me is that im not apathetic im just really frustrated that we are not trying to be the best first team we can be. I can accept losing if we have ensured that we have done everything possible to win.

The problem is with the whole PLC policy. We are not giving contracts to or signing men in their late 20s early 30s. Teams need experienced men at their peak, they just do, its a fundamental rule in football. Who cares if we have to give Ledley 30k a week and Sammy 20k even though their value in terms of transfer fee will always go down. You have to pay decent money for these types of players and surely this is preferable to having a bloated squad full of never will bes. The real boss himself said that our wages are at Seville levels. Look at that team and look at some of the money our first team players were earning. Granted that team lacked depth but what difference does it make when our current depth is not Celtic class some of them arnt even Motherwell class.

There is a happy medium but our board wont oblige because they view players only in terms of monetary value they cannot see the true value of a player and that is what he brings to our football club.

It's * poor right now, no doubt. We were * in the past but we always had heart, entertainment and great characters. Now we are exceptionally ordinary. The manager is too boring, too technical, too much coach and not enough manager - he just hasn't imposed his personality on the team. Or maybe that is his personality. Personally, I don't mind being in a * league, but we are in a seriously * state right now. We are miles away from competing in the Europa League, but we are cruising the SPL, which begs the question. Just how * is the SPL?

It's hard to explain how my feelings towards the team is changing. Maybe apathy is the best way to describe it, or, as a previous poster suggested, maybe it's frustration.

I find watching league games almost a chore lately. Whether it's the fact that they are at ridiculous times of the night for me, or that there is no "real" challenger so dropping points isn't such a big deal, or even the boring monotonous commentary on Celtic TV and dull atmosphere in a half empty CP, or the lack of quality in the squad, or lack of ability of the management team, or lack of ambitions of the board, I just don't get as excited as I used to.
If we lose or draw, I feel down. If we win, I just feel relief.
This is a feeling I've only started getting as recently as this season.
Even in Europe, I usually have this feeling of giddy excitement mixed with dread for weeks leading up to a big European game. I just don't have that now and we are just days away from a huge, must-win game against Ajax in CP....well, the dread is still there, hopefully the excitement kicks in as we get closer to the game.

I just feel we are using the current footballing climate as an excuse for downsizing as opposed to trying to look to improve the team and aim for the future.

I don't feel any different to Celtic as I did in the Martin O'Neill years, as I did in the 90s or as I do now. The only thing that changed for me was dejection, disappointment in the 90s, unbridled joy in the early 2000s, defiance during Lenny's time and and confusion at the moment because I feel it should be better but I'm not really sure why. All of that is just circumstances of following the club though, it's a rollercoaster it always has been and it always will be. That's what being a Celtic fan is for me, you take the good with the bad and you keep coming back for more.

It's not something I can switch on and off. Celtic is organic, an entity all to itself and no amount of pish managers, tory board members or * transfer policies will ever shift the feeling I get before a match, the joy I feel when we win and the sadness I feel when we lose. It's what you make it yourself.

I would still find a way to watch Celtic if we were in the third division of the tiddlywinks league.

This thread is essentially a love letter to missing Rangers and no one can convince me otherwise.

I'd explain in a long winded post over several paragraphs but if you really look at it closely, you'll all know this well enough.

Don't define yourself by another dead club. Choose your own attitude towards Celtic, see the bigger picture and life gets a lot better. If you want to have a good wee cry publicly about how celtic hurt your feelings then I guess this is the place to do it though, personally I'd go and watch Loose Women on repeat in private if I were you, it's embarrassing.

There was no complaints of apathy when we played Barca, Benfica, Ajax etc. in the CL. Missing the huns no. Missing the CL most definitely.
